SY Cab #3 Has a New Home
As some of you know, I bought my very first Porsche back in 1999: a 1995 Speed Yellow 968 Cabriolet. I purchased it from it's original owner with just ~4,800 miles or so.
It brought me immense joy every time I drove it. But, for a few different reasons - some bad (that jerk who smashed it while running a red light), some good ($$$) - I chose to sell it after a few years.
Some time later, I learned that I had owned one of the just ten SY Cabs ever sent to NA. In fact, it was #10 itself. I never knew the car was so rare. So even though I didn't regret selling that very car because of the red light incident, it still felt like a kick in the stones that I no longer had that special car I loved so much. And that was 10 years ago.
In that time, I've been lucky enough to own and enjoy a few other great cars, including two other Porsches - a SY 911 Turbo Cab, and another 968 Cab - but the memory of that SY 968 Cab that got away haunted me for a decade.
So when Jeff posted about one that was coming up for sale (public thanks, Jeff!), I was lucky enough to be browsing the forums and jumped right in. And now, the car I've waited so long to own again has finally returned!
I can't say enough about it, and apparently every one of its previous owners who've kept it in AMAZING shape (kudos to you all, whoever and wherever you are), but I'll give some details here.
The car is #3 of the ten SY Cabs and has only ~48,000 miles as she sits right now. My friend and locally acclaimed Porsche restorer says it looks like it's got closer to just 5,000 miles, "a true concours car." Mods and other notables include:

- RS Barn Stage 1 Performance Chip (original chip also came with the car)
- Air box mod - complete with finishing trim in the holes, super well done
- K&N air filter
- Polished exhaust tip - not sure of the make/model, but the car sounds "true"
- ROW front directional markers, no bumperettes (originals also...)
- Design 1 Racing strut tower brace
- Design 1 Racing chassis brace
- Design 1 Racing exhaust heat shield
- Design 1 Racing short shift kit (replaced with OEM, but included)
- Stainless steel door sill covers
- Radio head unit (original head and CD changer included)
- A brand-new, still-in-the-box OEM wind deflector
- Genuine Porsche rosewood brake handle and shifter **** (replaced with OEM, but included)
- Genuine Porsche fitted car cover
- OEM tool kit
- OEM compressor
- 17" Cup I wheels (I can restore with 16" Cups from my other 968)
- Paint is damn-near flawless
- Engine is super clean
- Interior is excellent
- I have a set of factory sport seats getting recovered in black leather for this car

Thanks guys. It's a great feeling having this car again. SpeedBump, I got that plate two years ago, hoping this day would eventually come.
Regarding rarity and values, if knowing that this car will not be for sale any time in the foreseeable future gooses the value of similarly rare colors coming up on the market, then great. 'Cause I plan to keep this one a loooooooooong, long time.

Thanks again, guys.
I'm definitely down for a Cabrioday meetup and photo session. I could bring my red one, too - if we're open to having the "common" colors represented while we're all there. Might have to wait until June if we're going to do this. I'm pretty jammed up 'til then. If someone wants to organize it, I'll keep an eye out for the thread.
Best,

Indeed a stunner! What is the SY Cab with black wheels in the thread. Implies you owned the car twice, I've never done that but have a list of "want backs". Glad you were able to pull it off. Why sold in the first place? Actually, you don't have to answer, I ask myself that everyday and don't know the answer. Anyway, WOW!
