PS leak
So, I pulled the yellow coupe out of the garage the other day and noticed a spill of PS fluid on the floor. A check of under the hood showed everything was damp from the PS reservoir on down. I tightened the line clamps at the reservoir and topped off the fluid. I know this is a common 968 problem. What exactly is usually the culprit? The reservoir? The lines?
Thanks

On my 951, I loosened the hose clamp at the bottom of the reservoir moved it up about a 1/4 inch so that it could grip some fresh, plump hose and tightened it down. Then I added a second clamp below the original one and it never seeped from that location again.

I have the slow drool from the bottom of the reservoir. Pretty sure it's that hose and clamp at the bottom which seems to be a weak design point.

If the reservoir is the two piece design (clear on top), that also might be the culprit. I know Porsche moved to the one piece design because of weeping along the seam of the two pieces. However, I don't know how common the failure was..

I have a new hp line if anyone needs one.
I was gonna use it on my v8 swap, because I have a bracket that allows for keeping the Porsche ps pump.
then Eric convinced me to run the GM unit.
btw Jeff, i'll be in New Haven tomorrow if you wish to meet up.
i'll bring it along just in case.

+1 on Raj's advice. If its not leaking from the boots on the steering rack, I'd put $100 on the hose from the bottom of the reservoir and its one of the easiest DIY repairs you are liable to ever do.
The reservoir itself should also probably be changed as it has a non-serviceable filter at the bottom. Unfortunately, they quit making the two piece (with the clear top half) a long time ago and I really want to keep my car as close to "as-delivered" stock as I can so I am still running mine with no apparent ill effect.
Raj, I am WAYYY late in responding to you about the springs but I have them boxed and in my office ready to ship. I'll try to pm you shortly!

Thanks,
The yelow coupe is a 95 so it does not have the clear resevoir. And i would replace that just to get the new filter? It doesn't appear to be broken in any way.

Yes. It's relatively cheap to do and beats going in later to redo it, right?
