This is correct. If I want something with an auction format, I don't bid until the last 5 seconds and I put my highest amount in that I would pay. This way I did not "bid the auction up" during the course of the auction and get it at the lowest price.

I use auctionsniper.com

It does it automatically for you. And the nice thing about it is that if you set up a snipe with three days to go, and for some reason you don't want the item, you just go back and delete your snipe. You never bid on the ebay item as it doesn't place your bid until 5 seconds to go.

Yep, normal LHD Euro spec CS with those clear side marker/turn signals. I paid $14,000 for it, including shipping. The SPO(Stoopid Previous owner) had not kept maint up to date, ran it hard and snapped the timing belt. So the head/pistons were toast. Manfred kindly sourced a low mileage engine from a wreck and swapped it in for me before it left Germany.

The pisser is Rich managed a REALLY nice article in Excellence immediately after buying mine to go with his Yellow coupe. The article got many of the details wrong about my car, where he got it, and he kinda claims credit for building it. All he did was add the Cool Suit system because it's so bloody hot/humid there in Fla. All the rest was done by me. No sour grapes at this point, doesn't matter anymore anyway. But I would love to know where that CS went.

Cheers
Mikey

You did very well on the purchase price with shipping.

Excellence worked closely with me to get all the details right when they featured my car. I have nothing but good things to say about them.

As to price, keep in mind prices were much lower then. This was 12 yrs ago, for a car with a used replacement engine, and for a non-us spec car. So it was track only. I looked into getting it federalized by the guys in Houston, Tx, being a 95' it just snuck in under the OBD requirement, so it "could" have been done. But the cost was just stupid money. It already had side beams, etc. Just needed US gauges essentially. Anyway it couldn't be done for a price my wallet could live with. As for Excellence, sorry, didn't mean to ding them, I'm sure you're right. They got the details wrong because the guy feeding them the details was......how to put it nicely......

Like I said, doesn't matter at all now, it was annoying at the time though.

Cheers

As an eBay seller I hate sniping software. I wish they would ban it.

you're of course, right. as a buyer it's
much more fun to get in a bidding war for endless, overpriced, used stuff.

This Slate Grey coupe would make a good start for a DE/track car if it goes at a low enough price(currently at $4,350). No reserve on it, so could be interesting. 29 bids so far, so it'll likely heat up over the next 2 days of bidding. Where is it located? I don't see that on the listing.

Well it turns out that slate gray coupe has some issues. Big hat tip to a member on one of the other forums who pointed out the following, buyer beware, hope none of our Rennlisters are bidding:

"The bids as of today are below $5000 and the mileage is stated as 134,662. He ran a CarFax for grins and it is flagged for an odometer rollback. reported mileage by a Massachusetts inspection station 9/25/2003-153,574; 3/1/2004 159,723; 10/14/2004 166,776; 10/30/2006 190,735. Then on 10/5/2007 it was recorded another Mass. inspection station as 118,623. If you're bidding on this one, beware, do some homework!"

It also looks like a flood car by the look of the engine bay and stains on the carpets.

Could be that or winter salt-driving, that eats the heck out of all the parts made out of something ending with "-um".

What was it, you have Cheap, Fast or Good - but you can only pick two.

I don't sell used over price stuff - mostly vintage and antiques, so of course it's worth it. Actually no one is buying much on eBay right now. I have 77 items online and only three with bids. I lose money every time I list something.
