the virtually non-existent parts bin >>> genuine replicas is significant imo... not just because the 968 Turbo is rare or that it is one of the few proper 944s... or that the parts are worth money.... or even just because someone has preserved them in a single package....

not just all of the above, but because it might be the only factory car of the series tunable to supercar performance a long way before courting meltdown... using just the same parts that built the limited production car.

at the same time, it's also quite odd that the ultimate 944.... which is such a significant car of the '80s
is obscure with people who pay attention to rare Porsches, Ferraris, etc.

and totally unknown in the mainstream car collector world.

Regret selling it to this day, if anyone knows where it is after Rich Tillotsen sold it I'd love to know so I can try and pry it loose again.

It's certainly worth more this way than a RS replica.

I noted earlier a reference to a factory 968 turbo rs gearbox in this thread. Can someone help me get a better understanding what manual gearbox variants there were for 968's and what ratios the 968 turbo s and turbo rs used vs the stock manual 968? Thank you.

I'm pretty sure the Porsche 968 Turbo S splitter/rear wing/front nose with larger aperture, yadda yadda, are all NLA from Porsche Motorsport so you're SOL if you'd ever want to do a replica yourself today just cosmetically.

The transmission in my car is turbo S one. From everything I have heard and read, out of the turbo RS and the turbo S transmissions, the turbo S is much more desirable. Turbo RS is very similar to a standard 6 speed. I was fortunate enough to buy it brand new from Porsche Motorsports back in the day. At the time it was 1 of the last 3 left.

As Damian stated, most of the parts are NLA now.

Fascinating. Does anyone know what's different and what ratios they each used?
