Default 13K mile 968 on eBay

Wow, super low mileage. very early coupe (Oct 91) with the recessed hood and larger rear emblem. One family owner. Pretty cool, tip though.

Even though it has so few miles and with a tip, the buy-it-now price is not completely off the scale. Not bad!

Love it sans the tip trans. I saw a gorgous 968 in Ruby on the Excellence website, in the for sale section. 6 speed, white leather and only 25k miles for $17,999 in OH. Sold super quick. Looked really nice and an ultra rare color.

this car desperately needs a manual conversion. can anyone tell me what doing one of those

would entail ? i've always been curious what someone would have to do to make that happen.

Regarding the Ruby 968 listed on Excellence, I just contacted the owner. It has 27,451 miles and he is firm on $20k. Says he is selling for his brother and that it has been sitting for 10 years. I assume it will need belts, hoses and tires, plus the drivers seat and some trim piece is heavily worn for 27K miles. Does anyone have some factual info on this 968? Thanks.

Yet another seller who thinks a car that has sat for a decade is worth more... That thing is probably a lesson in dry rot. Rubber needs to be *exercised* to remain supple. Someone will get a pretty rare color and then pay a lot to replace all the rubber and no small amount of the plastic, most likely.

I've been chatting with the owner (the brother) trying to buy this car for a couple of years now.

the year is 1997...

and you're engaged to marry a rich man's daughter....

one day the rich man says,

"______, i've chosen for you and my daughter the choice of selecting a special wedding gift..... but you have to take either one selection or the other.... and there are only 2 selections from which to choose......

"i'm offering to give you two 1995 Porsche 968 coupes, both with manual transaxle and limited-slip differential that i've got in a sealed container from 2 years ago.... one of them in Riviera Blue, and the other in Blood Orange...."

(as delivered these cars totaled just shy of 90 thousand dollars a couple of years ago)....

"the other selection is a new *1998 Porsche 911.... the car is nothing out of the ordinary. hasn't anything special in particular. no turbo. no sports seats or mag wheels... it's just a Porsche 911 that i've had them make in a color that i find particularly attractive—Riviera Blue."

(as delivered, this car totals just shy of 88 thousand dollars the day it arrives)....

*(the 911 used for the illustration above isn't much different than the 911 that came during the final model year of the 968, so technically, you can't say it is't from the same general time frame of the above mentioned 968s)...

which Porsche gift package would you choose ?

(what choice would you make then and now).

If we are talking now, today... From a purely financial point the 993 is the Porsche to pick. Value = $35k - $40 today and some say "appreciating". The is twice what the 968's would bring assuming same condition & mileage. If the year is 1997 then I would have picked the Two 968's.

LOL.
Great question.
993 all the way.
I drove a bit in my sister's 2009 997S SY cab. Man, what a car. It has me itching to get one.
