Default NA Mint green 968s - 100% survival rate!

Well, they only made 3 North American 968s painted N4 mint green, 1 cab and 2 coupes, all 92s, all 6spds, and I'm happy to report that 20 years later, all 3 have survived in great shape. Below are photos of each of them:

Of course, you know the 1 and only mint green cab:

Then there is coupe #1 which has been spotted a couple of times in CA and as recently as last year. It has black partial leather, painted crest center caps, sport seats, and a rear emblem delete option.

And finally, coupe #2, which surfaced just last year. This 968 has painted crest center caps and a black/cashmere partial leather interior:

It's very cool that all 3 have survived. Now this post serves as a virtual mint green reunion!

But wait!

How many of the three have HEADLIGHT WASHERS?

I like the track car.

How many sunroof delete cars are there with M030, 6-speed M220, and sport seats?

Take care!

Do either of those Mint Green Coupes have M221 LSD Option code?

Frenchtoast, although sunroof delete cars are slightly lighter....they are not as rigid as the coupes that came with a sunroof.

Nope, only the cab is a 220 LSD car. Interesting about the roof.

Where did you get this information that sunroof cars are more rigid. Just curious??

Interesting. Along with 968TurboS I'd be interested in an explanation. (Not that I disbelieve you, just would like to know!) Is it all the extra metal work done for the sunroof? Also - they slightly changed the roof structure for the sunroof cars for MY87 (why they didn't do it in 85.5 with everything else is beyond me) I think they just changed where things attached, so I imagine they're the same anyway.

And Jeff968, isn't a cabriolet technically a sunroof delete? Or is it just an extra large sunroof?

All have a great Memorial Day!

Take care!

I have decided people who say the sunroof cars are more rigid are just trying to make themselves feel better about having to put up with having a sunroof

I thought that sunroof delete 944 and 968 cars were much prized by the racers because they were more rigid??

Wow. The white on a sunroof delete really accentuates the lines. Looks great, really! Please don't put any stripes or things on it. Looks fantastic the way it is!

This I never understood. I can see the argument that in stock form, a sunroof-delete is more rigid. However, when a rollcage is added, it equalizes the two, since the rollcage is stronger than either. Sunroof-equipped cars (without the sunroof electronics) are lighter though, I would imagine

Take care!

There are two additional beams going across the roof of the coupes equiped with a sunroof. Those beams are not present in the sunroof delete cars. Where i got this info....been too long to remember, but i read it in several different places and was one of the reasons all my front engine Porsche's have been sunroof cars. I'm sure i can find several sources as i did when i was in the market for my first 944.

Sunroof delete cars have a lower center of gravity as there is less weight in the roof. Once equiped with a cage...doesnt really make much of a diff wether or not you have a sunroof delete car or one equiped with a roof. That said, the sunroof delete cars are still lighter.

on the subject of weight loss, i'd like to have GT Racing clone my fenders in carbon.... and also run their composite hood.

I will have to remove the materials to check but from what I can remember, there was no such bracing. I could be wrong but I don't ever remember reading this anywhere either. This was the 1st time I ever heard anyone state this.
