At Rennsport Reunion II at Daytona in 2004, the red one was there, I'm pretty sure the white and blue was too(I'll see if I can find pics of that one). I tried to speak briefly with the owner of the red one since I was pretty sure it was one of only four made(right?), but he wanted no part of that so I moved on.

Ha! Here's a pic of the white & blue Mobil 1 car. I knew I had at least one pic of it. I may have more, I'll look through the many pics I took from that 3 day event. Pretty cool to see it sitting there in line to go out on the track & there is one of the Gulf 917s just ahead of it.

Here's a pic that many of you have probably seen I guess. It shows the four factory Turbo RSs. Perhaps that red one I saw wasn't the factory car? Not sure myself. Is it the same one in the auction? Whats the pic in the auction catalog show in comparison to the pics I took in 2004 Don?

At this years Monterey Historics it was completely the opposite - people took time to talk to you. I spent a half an hour talking to the owner of the Jagermeister 934. Then at the Mazda booth I spent over an hour with the drivers looking at the 787b and other 4 rotor cars. They even showed me a secret panel that was signed by the race team that won LeMans. I even got some hot laps around Laguna Seca in a Jaguar driven by Davey Jones. I was a the historics several years ago and the experience was the same.

Given the choice, I would take Jason's car over the red one, because its closer to how the factory built them.

What sets the red Turbo RS apart from the other 3 RS's that were made:
- it is the first of the Turbo RS line
- it was raced at the German ADAC race circuit but unfortunately crashed
- it was rebuilt, painted speed yellow, modified to quality to race at Le Mans
- both the red ADAC version and the yellow Le Mans version are available as 1:43 models from Starter, none of the other Turbo RS's were modeled.
Yeah, if I was still working in NYC, I would go for it.
