I wonder what the Turbo S Clone cost the original owner to build. Looks like a perfect example. It must have been more than $66k including the donor car.

One of the guys there with the Drendel group told me that it was his understanding that the clone was done very early on in its life & no expense was spared. I didn't press him for details & I'm not sure he knew much more than that either. He just confirmed that they did not do the conversion.

The new issue of Octane magazine has a small bit on the Drendel collection sale; they did screw up, though, having a picture of the Turbo RS and below the description as a Turbo S with the much smaller estimate.

Mel,
It was great to see that Matt placed the 968 Register Decal, that I had given to him in 2007, on his Turbo RS when he arranged to have the car transported to the Hershey Swap Meet. By the way, the buyer (Prescott) has informed me that the car will not be in a Museum in Colorado but instead in a private collection in Colorado. Prescott will be attending the Hershey Porsche Only Swap Meet on Saturday, April 21 and I will get more details about the new owner at that time.

reading the literature, it stated that the rs had a 16 valve head? in the picture, it showed the original 8 valve turbo head? what was the deal with that? I know the 924gt boss cars had the 16 valve turbo heads, but this 968 didnt?
I also have a pic of the other 968trs that david white had at his shop, and it too was a 8 valve head version? come to think of it, I think it was Rennsports 968trs?
I am confused on the literature jargon, anybody know why they stated 16 vs 8?
Mike
