I didn't do anything quite that cool. However, even driving around doing errands is way more fun than my truck.

Went by Oklahoma Foreign for some almost new e-brake shoes for spares.

Washed and waxed it this evening.

phil0618 can you post a pic of this part? I repainted my par and when I put the doors back together my auto lock doesn't work when i lock the drivers door to set the alarm. I thought it was something with the alram but perhaps it is something with this piece. I have a 90 944s2 cab so it may be different can you or anyone else enlighten me
thanks

Today I replaced the cheap plastic part on the passenger door that breaks and renders the auto locking mechanism inoperable. The "fix" is easy, and the part is cheap, but I really dread putting the door panel back together. Two of the three screws (the two holding the brackets) under the arm rest get me every time. Some patience and some profanity allowed me to triumph over this travesty of engineering.

Next up - a rebuild of the transaxle to address the pinion gear problem which has gotten too loud to ignore.

Hi,

Here is the part that I changed in my car. Apparently these just get brittle and break over time.

Part 944-537-511-00

Best,
Phil

Scraped about 3 pounds of track boogers out of the Fikse's, just so I could put them back on for the dry. Nice to drive the car again without boat-anchor wheels/tires on it.

Also, had to reinstall hood ornament that decided to go AWOL after 20 years. Go figure!

Wow, you have to replace your water pump, and then pull the engine for a swap? Unless you do it yourself, you know that replacing the water pump is probably well north of $500 in labor, because the belts have to come off. If I were you, I'd move heaven and earth to avoid having to do such a big job just to allow for a trip to Texas. Why not just trailer the car?
