Default First 968 - blue 92 coupe

Just bought this car in Corbin Kentucky on Oct 15th and picked it up on the 21st. Got it running when I got it home but it was really rough. Figured out it had a broken #4 intake valve spring and a broken balance belt. I put in a new spring and replaced the timing belt and balance belt and the cam chain tensioner pads. Had her back up and running last night with a couple of listers help. Carlege drove her to the Mille event today and all went well Still needs some more work but I am glad she is rolling under her own steam again...

Well done sir, do you plan to restore her the rest of the way? How does she drive? Obviously lots of cosmetic issues but certainly do-able.

Josh, thanks for saving this one. I talked to Skip and told him that I sincerely hoped that you wouldn't part it. Hope you have a great time and enjoy the best of the front-engine water coolers.

Congrats!
Atleast the car is in good hands. You will find the 968 much easier to work on than a 951.
Regards.

Heres what $$ have gone into it already...

Key cut to the VIN (was lost) - $64.72
Distributor cap - $69.88
Spark plugs - $10
Timing belt/chain pads - $59.14
Valve cover seal and spark plug hole seals - $44.50
Valve springs, mirror glass, door handle hardware and seals - $175.58
Cup II wheels (came with 16" wheels) - $647.96
Flywheel lock - $59.87

Total so far - $1136.65

Still need to buy - more door handle hardware, odometer gear, rear lock, front tow hook cover, wiper bolt covers, antenna and lower molding attachment points. Also the control arm ball joints are bad, oil pan gasket is leaking and the hall sensor wire connection isn't that pretty. Of course lots could be spent on the interior...

Well - need to change out the fluids, would like to power wash the underside so I can get an idea of what is leaking, repair the mouse damage to the wires, repair the driver's door handle and the ground effects....

Other than that I am planning on driving it every day to work and seeing what else needs attention.

Any numbers on how many blue on cashmere coupes were made?

Drives well but I've only put about 3 or 4 miles on her - my buddy drove the car to the Mille yesterday.

Nice car and glad you got it back on the road. Most of the stuff I see on it are cosmetic and parts are readily available from Sunset Porsche and dismantlers. All it takes is time.

I drove it to the millie Roughly 100 miles there and back. Granted i havent had alot of experience driving these types of cars i can confirm what others have said. Steering felt really good and tight, Acclereation was good. i was able to keep up with the 951's on I75 when we were caravaning. Clutch feels fine no real strange noises. Car just needs a good once over cleaning and fixing cosmetic broken parts and take care of the oil leak. im sure it will make someone a happy owner.

While waiting on the track i noticed that the temp gauge was climbing high enough for me be concerned. Speedometer isnt working.
