Default Finnish S3 needs more oomph

Hello there,
my S3 finished in late 2009 and after first problems (weak MAF et al) she has been running for some 10tkm ever since and love every one of them.

Now that I've used to the powerband of the engine it starts to feel umm.. a little weakish.. (I know this will end up to the charging part but let's not go there yet).

Let's do little chip talk. There are these options
- Weltmeister
- RS Barn stage I - III
- Porsche MotorSport
- Promax R7100 & R7700

what else is there ? I mean the ones that are used and sold. I know you can get a dingy-dong from Ebay which is a tuned copy of a tuned copy of a copy and nobody knows what's the original and has it been really done like ones above (in dyno) ?

So, open your mouth please and elaborate why something you chose is good and if you have some proven results that would be awesome.

The RS barn stage II chip and header got me an extra 10 to 15 rwhp. I posted the dyno results in this section a few years ago. A search should pull up those data.

Found them - thanks! So 227 rwhp * 1.15 would equal 260 hp@crank? That's a good improvement. I don't have 4-1 exaust so I guess we'll go with St I . what do you think?

I went with Promax and was very happy. I also tried the other chip you mentioned in stage one and didn't notice much improvement in the midrange, like the Promax.

Ditto for the ProMax, driveability and quickness to rev a big plus.

Many of these chips will let your rev far above 6500 rpms. I advise against doing that often, I have two destroyed engines, likely from running above 7K on the race track.

The transaxle motorsport chip is good, but I don't where you get it these days, deutsch-nine?, promax is ok too. Putting in a lighter flywheel makes a big difference, better acceleration, especially in the lower gears. Also better suspension helps, KW v3 or something, means you can corner faster.

I have lighter FW + lifters with RS barn chip - very responsive and fun engine to drive.

JakeS2, where in Finland are you? I'm in The Netherlands, but I'll take the ferry to Helsinki tomorrow with the 968 to visit a friend I have the RS Barn stage one chip. Would be awesome to see one of (very few, I imagine) Finnish "968"s while I'm there...

Contact me if interested in an international micro-meeting
