Not really. The 956/962 series cars had 4-valve heads and became the winningest cars Porsche has ever built and competed with.

We are discussing 968 turbo's and not other models . They had prototype 4 valve heads that were used for testing on the 968 turbo. This is what I was refering to.

I think this is what Luis was responding to...

I agree that Porsche never built the 968 Turbo S to be a production car. It was intended to be a race car.

At the same time, however, Porsche's best race cars had 4-valve heads. Partially water cooled with twin turbos, by the way. They just couldn't justify finding a way to make it work on the 968 because the platform was on its way out.

I think that Porsche is a company that builds and races its cars to sell them to the public. Maybe not the exact car but a very close version of it. Some examples
914/6GT's are the 914/6 and 914's
924 GTR's became the 944 then the 951
944 turbo cups's just promoted the 951s
993 cups really pushed the 993
etc..... The list is much longer than this list but I think that it is fair to say that Porsche promotes and advertises its cars on the race track.

I really think if 968 sales had not dropped, the 968 or variant would still exist today.

Also it is a fine line for them to protect their bread and butter car (911). If the majority of their customers wanted a 4 cyl super car over a 6 cyl 911 then I think that they would oblige.

3.2 litre 4 valve turbo with improvements up and down the chassis... just could have been a sensational car.

every time i think of the ending of the 4-cylinder line, i think of my cruddy rocker panels.

I think this is a different company. Has anyone inquired into this car to see if the issues have been resolved?

I can't imagine the seller fixing anything. He move back to Autralia and the car has been all over on consignment. Some of the issues mentioned were cosmetic.

Believe it or not:

I'd still love to have it, but my move to Canada has put it even further out of reach
