Re-lamping dash: part #'s?
I plan to tear into my dash soon and re-lamp the gauge cluster and temp gauge at a minimum. Would like to install better-rated gauge lamps if possible: incandescent, not LED.
Does anyone have part #'s and quantities for these bulbs?
Thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to remove the cluster, remove the old bulbs and get newer bulbs with higher wattage. I think some of the bulbs are 3 watts and going to a 5 watt bulb makes a huge difference. I don't know the sizes off top.

Many folks have had issue with the 5W bulbs melting the sockets...go with Sylvania 194 @ 3.78W. Original bulbs are indeed 2W. Clark's Garage has a nifty write up on all the various bulbs that will work. It requires 3 bulbs for the cluster. I've refurbed quite a few 944 and 968 clusters for folks and have never had an issue. Everyone has been very pleased with the increase in brightness. Cleaning off and redoing the reflective material on teh lights tubes helps drastically as well. I use a double sided aluminum tape as a replacement for the silver paint on the light tubes. Should be permanent unlike the paint from the factory.

John...I'd be happy to cut you 3 pieces of the tape I use and drop them in the mail. Pick up the 194 bulbs and you'll spend no where near $25.00! PM for an e-mail addy.

Home Depot and Lowe's should have HVAC tape which actually should work but may be thicker than necessary and prove to be a little more difficult to work with. The stuff I use is actually an arts and crafts product used in the stained glass industry.
John, I'll get some pre-cut pieces out to you via US Mail.

And here I am running all my cars' dimmers on the minimum setting. I even changed to dim red LEDs on my audi. I guess I'm the only one!
Trevor re-foiled the cluster optics on his last car and he said it made a big improvement.
