That last interior is terrible. I mean they put the steering wheel in the wrong place!
Regarding the Corvette interior... I hate it. Actually my dad has been in the market for a $30k sports car for the last few years, and he avoids Corvettes primarily because of the interior. He's gone through a few 911s and he likes the 993 the most. He's looking at NSXs now. NSX interiors are decent, not stellar.
I can't speak for my dad but I can name the things I don't like about the Corvette interior.
- center console is too wide
- tunnel is too close to the throttle pedal
- steering wheel does not look sporty, looks like an SUV wheel with a corvette logo
- I don't know if the new corvette has any, but green lighting on anything is not sporty; a turn-off
- try to make the vinyl look and feel like leather, not rubber
- center arm rest and door sills looks cheap
- the dash on the passenger airbag area is terrible. Too flat, too tall, no definition.
- seats are important to me. Those seats are not exciting.
These are all just my opinions, but I hope there is something useful in them for you.

BTW I'll list a few things I like about the 968 interior.
- the center console does not intrude into the dash (I guess it tries to mimic a 911 dash)
- I like the look and feel of yesterday's german vinyl
- even stock seats look nice
- vinyl headliner as opposed to cloth

For me, looking at the 'vette interior or the Z4 I see an aggressive approach to masses and angles which brings one of the Transformers movies to mind, (and that's not a good thing at all). The 'vette in particular lacks any sense of a design unity.
The Cayman S, by comparison, just looks amateurish: a mad collection of circular forms capped off by a wheel that has no business being on a sports car.
Does anyone have a quality photo of the late-944/968 dash, just for comparison's sake?

I don't even like the look of my stock wheel, although it's much more comfortable and easy to use than it would appear...odd, that. Typical German functional design, I suppose.
Also, that Panasonic head unit has to go...the CD-2 doesn't particularly have a lot of features, but it gets the job done and it looks PERFECT. I considered replacing mine when the CD player died, and then I decided that CDs suck anyway, and since I can hide a 3.5mm jack in the cubby hole below it, there's no good reason to replace it so long as the radio works.

Something else I like about the 968 interior, which I was reflecting on, just this morning...the gauge faces. It seems simple, but the black-faced gauges with the white markings and orange needles make a HUGE difference, at least to me. I really don't know of any excuse to have the back of a gauge cluster in any color other than black. I've seen a few good gauge clusters, but the 968 is the only one with a tach that I've ever felt really comfortable reading entirely with peripheral vision, while my eyes are focused on the road.

Loved the arrangement of my (departed) E36's (both of them). All instruments and controls pointed at the driver. Now all BMW dashes stink.
Stupid steering wheel was not adjustable, though. which was a BIG annoyance, esp. in this class of car. This was actually a late change, after '96 or so. The earlier ones had tilt wheels.....(?)
Had an'02 MkIV GTI also and agree the wheel was good, rest of interior was just OK.
The Cayman is overdone, would look better in an SUV.

i dont recall any E36 M3's having a tilt wheel (regardless of model year). Many of my friends have owned them over the years. I've sat in and driven just nearly every model year E36 M3 (95, 96, 98, 99).
I could be wrong though.

I just cargasmed. I love gullwings!
I don't like the stock 968 wheel, but it's not too ugly. It just looks like a minivan wheel. The old 4-spoke however is really cool. A bit dated in its looks but very easy to grip and steer with. That surface which is angled inward around the entire rim makes it very nice to grip.
A 968 with the CS wheel is a beautiful interior. Please post pics once you install it!
