Default The two headlights are different, right?

Just checking: the two headlights (glass assemblies holding the bulb) are different, L/R on our cars, right? I seem to recall reading otherwise here, but the PET shows two different parts.

It matters right now because of my accident.

Is the PET perhaps refering to a different part for left hand drive vs right hand drive cars?

I believe they have to be different, because the beam pattern is not supposed to be symmetrical.

Hey, guess what? This from Jeff Clark at Sunset Imports:
Just to clarify, the glass lights are the same from left to right. But the assemblies [#1 in attached PET illustration], which do include the glass headlights, are different from left to right.

How can the glass be the same left and right when the beam pattern is asymmetrical?

That makes no sense in my mind, but what else is new(?)

The illustration itself belies that statement. The plastic housing that is bonded to the glass lens is not symmetrical so how could you use one on the opposite side assembly?

Yeah, that's what I see: part #2 is the same for both sides. As to pattern, my guess is that the identical patterns sum with distance.

Believe it or not the reasearch I did when I had one for sale turned up the glass was the same for L and R. So I guess the beams are symmetric but angled through the assy to overlap......?

Cheers, Mike
