Default insurance rates

I am sure glad I drive a 4 cylinder. Just got my 6 month insurance rate of $125. That is for liability only but I thought it was pretty cheap.

That is cheap. But, as you say, its only for liability. For only a little more, you can get much better coverage.

I saved more than 30% by going to collector car insurance. I have mileage restrictions but stay within those, anyway. I have full comprehensive insurance plus full tort and agreed value, on all 3 Porsches for about $1,050 per year.

I also recommend collectors insurance. I just added my coupe for $125 a year and that was with a $20K stated value. I have my cab on there as the base car for $325 a year and a 70 Dodge Challenger for another $150 a year.

Todd, I would be curious to know what the miliage restrictions are for your policy. I think I would stay under 2000 a year for sure.

If one has, for instance, an odometer that perpetually reads 84020, forever, and always will...can one get that sort of insurance, and then the insurance company always has to take your word for it that you've stayed within the mileage limits?

Mine is 6k per year casual mileage, can't drive it to work , but anywhere else but a track is fine...full coverage stated value 20k for 300 per year. It's a very good deal, but I've never had to file a claim, which is a big question mark for any of the underwriters of collector insurance. I hope I never have to find out.

My cars have a 3k per year limit. I'm not sure they will check it but if something happens, they may check with the DMV (if they are allowed to)or something to get mileage.

As for broken Odometers, I guess they would have to take your word.

I would be fine with 3000 miles. I had my 944 for about 20 years and only put about 25,000 on it. I am going to check with the insurance agent about it.
