Default Hypothetically speaking...

...if you were looking to purchase in the next 2-3 months, which of these would you choose. Pros and cons?

#1:

-1992 Black over Cashmere
-103,093 miles
-993 Style front seats (almost no visible wear)
-New Lloyd's mats (2 months old)
-CupII wheels, Toyo Proxes with less than 5k miles on them
-I had the front bumper / rear spoiler / new GT racing splitter (hasn't even been on car yet) at Superior in Largo, FL (reputation precedes itself).
-Top end of motor was recently rebuilt
-Trans rebuilt recently
-Pinion has been done recently
-Full records. All work has been done at European Performance in St. Petersburg. All of the "recent" work has been done in the past year.

Performance Mods:

-New Fidanza LWFW and Clutch just installed
-Custom exhaust w/ B&B muffler
-Airbox mod
-Koni Yellow shocks
-H&R Springs
-Custom Chip From Kokeln
-SS brake lines
-x drilled rotors

#2:

1994 PORSCHE 968 Coupe
66,xxx miles
Midnight Blue/Cashmere
Clean Title

Upgrades:
Tech Art Exhaust
997 Wheels
Big Red Brakes
Cross Drilled Rotors
Front Strut Brace
Brey-Krause R-1524 Lower Front Cross Brace
968 TurboS Front Polyurethane Splitter ($550.00 item)
Custom Headlights
CD Changer
Aluminum Pedals

OK, now for the bad:

According to the previous owner, he had gotten in a small accident, sliding off the road and hitting a road sign in the rain. He had the car professionally repaired, the drivers fender and the front bumper skin also replaced. It is at this time that he decided to put on the custom headlights, I assume the original drivers side headlight got damaged.

The car drives great, straight, and does not seem to suffer any long term issues from the accident. It has been well maintained, and cleans up real nice.

Other small issues include a ding on drivers side rear quarter, and a crease on drivers side front fender(PO replaced that fender with a used one temporarily, i guess he had plans to track the car and use fiberglass fenders, according to him). Other then that the body is in great shape, as well as the paint...

Was car #2 originally from NJ? It sounds like Smuck007's old car.

i would buy car # 2. I've seen/sat in that car personally (when smuch007 owned it). He took excellent care of the car and it was in pristine condition when he had it. I would have it ppi'd to make sure there is no frame damage (which i dont think it is, as it was involved in a minor fender bender from what i understand). Outside of that, it should be a very solid/clean car with several nice options/upgrades. iirc, that car is a 94.5 car.

Daily driver. Once I drive the wheels off it, it'll be the donor for a turbo.

I really liked #2 when I saw it elsewhere on the web. Until I got to those headlights. Big mistake IMHO.

Can I ask people "why?" What do you base your opinions on?

#1. Do not like the headlight mod. Plus #1 has had some critical mechanical issues seen to and will be ready to drive w/ confidence.

#1 has had some:
Extensive maintenance parts replaced recently

IMHO better color combo with the updated seats (although not correct for the year)

Best of the "basic mods" if you are into that kind of thing

No hodge podge headlight modification.
(How hard is it to find all the parts to correct, how much $)

Not "hit"

Southern car (less potential corrosion)

It's not the HID, per se. For a street car, that flat hardware-store plexiglas-screwed-into-place thang just looks tacky.

At least to me.

Yep, lived in Ft Lauderdale for 25+ years.

The salted roads of the north east will do for more long term damage.

I'd take southern car over a northern car anyday.

another thing to look at is the asking price for both cars...and how much it would cost you to actually get the car. The Florida car would add a plane ticket & possibly a flat bed back up to NY for me, where as the NJ car would cost me just Gas to drive back to NYC.
