Default 968 CS cars for you LHD guys going VERY cheap

Hi Guys

I've been following a few auctions recently in Japan and I know you all would love to own a OEM CS model 968 which go for over $30k plus in the US.

Well dispaire no longer as there are alot of these cars coming up for sale in Japan which were imported from Germany in LHD.

Here is an example which sold today on the internet in Japan today:

If you want links to where to get these cars from then I'll post later.

The one pictured sold for less than $14k USD and you can ship these to your country for less than $2k USD This CS had less than 26k KM!!!!!!!!

Wow, I am stunned to hear that price. I am sure emissions and certification would be another expense but still very reasonable. Very interesting. Thx.

Import it as a race car or for exhibition use, take the parts you want and part the rest.

I liked his $2K import estimate better. And if you weren't going to drive it and just show and track that would be a good deal for that car. Looks like Maritime blue.

Importing cars without USA certifications is a PITA. A few years ago, the rules did change and became very strict. The rules on importing race cars did change as well, not as easy as it used to be, many new rules.
In reality, bolting the USA emission and safety parts on the car to pass is not a big deal. The problem is that the certifications (DOT & EPA) must be done at certified center. The centers will chanrge lots of $$$$$ to modify and certify a car.

Research the latest regulations, what seems to be a sweet deal will change once you figure out the details and associated cost for the conversion.

$10k to import and certify ... That's a serious bum deal you guy's get

That car could be shipped to the UK and on the road for less than $2500 US! Alot less if you bring it over as salvage and double up the invoices

Here is an example of a 968 on UK eBay which has just been shipped over from Japan with only 56k miles: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1993-PORSCHE-9...d=p3286.c0.m14 I wonder what profit he will be making if he gets his asking price??? Shame it an Auto but it's got some nice Factory options inc. Sport seats and Cups.

Well, here in the old US of A we have these silly things called safety regulations, and the darned 968 came standard with these things called airbags. To federalize the car for street use you will have to install them, even if you plan to rip it 'em out the next day. That required modification alone would cost thousands.

It can come into Canada without any modifications, once it's 15 years old!

All we pay is shipping to Canada, and duty & taxes (6.2+5+7%) to Canada Customs.

regs for the track only didn't change, just state/federal government got real **** about it. and now they check on it.

show and display thing, yea, car now has to have some historical importance to the company or cars in general. the 959 quilfies for it's awd and many many other things. good luck with getting a new version of a 944 with cosmetic changes over under that law. a nissan gtr32 is easier than a 968.

i the USA we have the 25yr law, older than 25 and it comes in without needing modification...got a ways to go, we're only on 84, you canadians are on 94
