Is the 968 a "Shark?"

...The 928 is not a shark because of its lights, it's a shark because of the entire shape of the car, mainly the front clip, and more so on the OB. It's the sharp edge, the slight "overbite", the round shape going from center to outside, and the low, narrow, tall grill. The shape of the fenders and entire front altogether is a huge point too.
You gotta glimpse it and instantly think "shark".

Your "shark" explanation makes sense, especially on the early 928s.
However, if the 968 had not had the cool pop-up headlights (uncovered), I would not have purchased it. I really, really like the look of the lights. Also they light the road up pretty good too. And, as you mention, they are more aerodynamic that the 928.
I was wondering how long it would be before someone mentioned "Whale Shark." Sure didn't take long!
I'll be fried for posting this foto but I thought it was creative, even if they (911 guys I think) put the wrong car on it. I'm easy...I like about all Porsches. I just can't afford to have one of each so I keep what I think are the best and most cost effective examples of great sports cars.

Haha, that's a good one. Why fried? 968 people couldn't care less and the 951 guys that frequent this board will commend you. This "war" is tiresome but I admit I have personal experiences with 928s that have made me forever dislike them. BUT, the 928S4s looks are absolutely beautiful and ahead of its time. When the headlights are down.
Yeah, you like cars who's eyes pop up! But the lights look different when down and up. I like the way the 968 looks with the lights down because it resembles the 993. They light up the road well because they're h4, not because the pop up... my '82 mercedes with euro h4s also lights up the road well, but the crappy DOT headlights it came with were like pocket flashlights!
I always thought it would be cool to have a 928 and a 968. All you need is a Miura and you'll have every car ever made with this kind of headlight.
Rereading my post it sounds kinda naggy, sorry. The miura lights are a tasteful addition to the already classic and intriguing design of both cars.

I have fond memories of driving a 928 GTS in the night - the headlights look very nice from the driver's seat and certainly help to feel how long the hood is. It's not so easy to feel where the front end is when pop ups are down.

That's a nice car. Are those 993 brake ducts?
Cory, yes, I really dislike the OB 928s as well... well the front is cool, more sharklike actually than the late body, but it's the back that makes me not like it. But the S4's rear looks even better than 968's on most days.
Harvey, you should post a pic of your two eye-poppers together. And sorry if all my comments on 928s' looks are offending you. I can shut up? My dad had an '83, another '83, and an '84, and they all were bad-luck for him. Also they were all a PITA for me to fix for him and etc. etc.

I noticed the same thing. It looks like it could be one of those Mastercard ads: "Seeing the look on the face of your competition when you drive by in your 968...priceless."
