I guess you answered your first question.

2. Depends on how far they went. Perhaps it was just a head swap cause the had a TB failure.

You will need a different bell housing and if it has a harness and DME, then the electrical is easy. You will also need a S2 flywheel and clutch. You might need to change the torque tube as well, im not sure how much shorter the S2 bellhousing is over the 968 one.

Street car or race car? I 968 with an S2 motor would be significantly reduced in value over a normal 968.

If it's the ebay car I'd run, unless you get it for a grand or so. That's gonna be a LOT of work and there is no guarantee the S2 engine is in decent shape.

Also, you can't just "throw a turbo" on an S2 engine - the compression ratio is wrong. It'd need a total rebuild to turbo.

Not worth the headache. You will lose engine hp/tq and the ability to change clutch in 4hrs. Its going backwards and makes no sense. The engine will bolt up to a 968 bell housing and so will the harness, as long as you use a 968 maf and computer. You won't have variocam either.
It just doesnt make sense to do it.

S2 and 951 bell housings are similar in dimensions. They both use the same size torque tube. S2 uses 1 trigger instead of the 2 for 951 on the bell housing (speed and reference). S2 uses a similar setup to 968's (hall sensor by the cam sprocket) if I remember correctly.

true or false.i remember something about signal for the speedo on the 968 being sent from the front hub.

then there is the whole ignitor set up for the s2 engine, from what i recalled that system may be attached on the body harness not the engine harness(something like that)

Yes, 968 speedo does work off the front hub.
If you are talking about the coil connection, it is part of the body harness. Like I said, it won't be worth the trouble.
You won't find out until you try it what else you will need. Nothing like this is ever plug and play.
