Lube them up with silicone or soapy water to reduce friction. Do NOT use a petroleum based lube.

Thanks guys!

One last question (I hope), when re-installing the swaybar and the new castor blocks, I have been told here to load up the suspension before doing so. Given the low ground clearance of our cars and the fact that I only have jack stands makes that appear quite difficult. Some folks on the 968forums.com suggested to support the control arms with the jack stands for proper install, but I was worried that could damage the arms themselves... am I being too cautious?

What say you Rennlist members?

Thanks

I am not sure I am following your question but you should not need to put jack stands under your control arms.
Are you trying to mount the swaybar to the body crossmember?

Sorry but I don't go to that forum. I guess your question has been answered.
Good luck.

For the stock sway bars, it does not matter. They do not have adjustable end links so there is no way to take out the pre-load. Just bolt them up and be done with it.

Happy to help. It's good to have more 968 guys that aren't afraid to wrench on their cars. For some reason, many 968 owners don't work on their own cars.

Ha! Yeah, my father actually was the one who inspired me to get a 968, yet he has never worked on any of his P-cars. He had a '94 968 Cab. and gets lost everytime I tell him what I am up to on the car... he has a 997 C2 now so he doesn't have to worry about maintenance.

I would not have purchased the car without the intent to do the work. I had no problem affording the initial price, but probably could not live well with the yearly maintenance costs. Plus, I really want to learn more about cars in general and found that this might be one of the easier P-cars to learn on!
