It's official. I'm now a member of the 200,000 KM club. Any other members?
That's anotrher great thing about Porsche front engined cars...it pretty common to see them go well beyond 200,000K miles. The engines and transmissions are pretty well bulletproof if maintained. You just have to keep on top of the other stuff. But a well-maintained 968 (or 928 or 944) can last a lifetime if you want it to and take care of it.
My 89 S2 before my 968 had 218,000 and still ran strong never rebuilt just well taken care of although I think I replaced everything else on the car before selling it.
203,768 on my Black daily driver (including 17 DE weekends & several Autocrosses); odometer stopped there around August.
I got the gear to repair it but Sept. race season was coming so that got delayed.
I put it up on the lift at 200k with intention to make a list for rebuild but there were no leaks or issues so....What the heck, let's head to 250k & see how it looks then....
Daily commute is about 87 miles 6 days weekly for the 1st couple of years; I've since added the White 968 (69K) so I can alternate & have a back-up.
Great cars, love 'em....Randall
