Performance Products sells an Italian-made cast replica of the Cup II's with special offsets for the 968 - fronts are 7.5 x 17 et 52, rears 9 x 17 et 47. They fill out the wheel wells nicely without spacers...

I picked mine up used, but I think they're reasonably priced new...

p.s. considering updating to sport seats, tan leather interior, seeking recommendations...

If this was true - my 1993 was a very special car - it's option code 403 shows it came with the Cup II wheels that are on the car now. It's Vin # shows it was sold as a 93 in June - built in February of 1993 # 314.
Jack,
My car is also a 403 car but that only means 17" wheels. You could get either the Cup1s or the Cup2s depending on when the car was produced. As for cabs, I have tracked the use of Cup1s (and the 944 seats) ending in June of 1993. The last car i have registered with these is 1994 MY cab RS840244. The next cab I have is 1994 MY cab RS840251 and it has the 993 seats and we start to see the use of cup2s from the factory. 251 was either produced in July or August of 1993. Having hung out at the dealer back in those days i can tell you when it came to wheels and tires that there was a lot of switching going on. I remember seeing 403 cars with the $1378 line item on the window sticker crossed off as they swiped the wheels to put on another car that they were selling. Maybe while your car was on the lot someone liked teh Cup1s better and swapped them from your car?? I can't speak to 993s. I can only tell you that I have never seen or heard of a 1993 car with Cup2s. 94s, yes, you see both examples but not a single 93. My first MY 1994 cab was built in March of 1993.

Is the VIN of your car PS820314?

The cheap replicas may look nice, but DO NOT try to use them for any sort of track application as factory replica wheels are generally not permitted at PCA events. Otherwise, they should be okay.

Here's a '93 CS with 17" Cup I's.

One problem with the replica wheels is they bend very easily. I had the repo cup2s on my old 968 and they bent twice and I don't even know when it happened. I've never had this issue with factory wheels.

Which is why they (replicas) are not recommended (and not permitted at PCA events) for track applications. A few years ago I had TUV rated (German equivalent of DOT) 17" Cup I replicas on a 911 and two cracked after a relatively light, side impact.

If anyone is interested, I will be parting with my 968 Cup2's soon. They are original Porsche wheels with 7.5 fronts and 9 rears. They are very rare and were recently refinished. I am currently running Michelin Alpin tires on them.
Here are some pictures ...

Jack,
I checked the Porsche parts catelog (PET) and sure enough, they list the Cup1 wheels for 92-93 and cup2 (with the 993 part number) for 94-95. I'm certain many 94s came through with the cup1s but many of them are 718 cars which started life as 93s!

FWIW, the factory Cup1 wheels with 965 part numbers in the same widths and offsets are also made in Italy. Granted they're a few pounds lighter and probably stronger from the track reports we here, but made in Italy just the same. I think the Speedline foundry is Italian.

Asking $1250 for wheels/tires or $1400 with centercaps. I bought the centercaps brand new a few months ago. They are the later style center caps with big crests.
Buyer pays actual shipping cost.
Regards.
