3.0 turbo completed
Well guys, my 3.0 turbo is finally done. Just running in now but mid range torque is up and the turbo spools up nicely with very little lag. The car feels a little agricultural compared to the old 968 engine but I hope to improve on that as we improve the mapping once its run in and I get it to the dyno for a proper session.

Wow, it took a while but you hung in there. Congrats, I look forward to getting a drive when I am in town.
Post some pictures when you get a chance and enjoy your new, improved ride.
Regards.

Thanks Guys.
You have both helped with this project in different ways and I really appreciate it. Raj you are welcome anytime. Damian, no reason why we can't do both if they are still both working next time you are here. The boat can be a little harsh though, many people come off worse for wear whereas the 968 will still retain a degree of comfort!!
On a side note I had a 996 turbo S cab for a few hours the other night. What great fun that was winding it up to 160 and seeing how hard it could pull to 100 with the pedal to the metal!! Nice to have for comparison for when mine is running full boost.

Three Wheelin'
Nick,
Congat's and welcome to the warm side of the turbo world! I've been really happy with mine, and it comes as quite a surprise to many folk who don't expect a 968 to behave the way only a turbo can.
By the way, the 996 Turbo S you drove the other night...were you referring to KPH (Kilometers per Hour) or MPH (Miles Per Hour)?
What turbo did you decide on for your car?
Nice Holiday present to say the least!

M** of course here in the UK!! But shhhhh dont tell anyone!!
A Vitesse Stage V for now, maybe GT30R later. All controlled by a Motec M400 which I am waiting to see the full potential of when we get to the dyno. Boost controlled by a Tial 46mm courtesy of Raj. It may look a mess right now but there are some damn fine ingrediants in this cake!!
Setup includes:
Motec M400
Vitesse Stage V Turbo
Mahle Pistons 8:1
Carillo Rods
Big Valve 2.7 Head
Vernier Adjustable Pulley
951 Cam (for now - recommendations welcome)
911 Piston Squirters in New Bare Block
Tial 46mm
Hayward and Scott 3" Exhaust No Cat
Catch Can
951 Intercooler
Aftermarket Dump Valve (recirculating)
.....and a huge hole in my pocket!

Very nice Nick, hope you get it all sorted soon. I love the description "agricultural" , it had me laughing out loud when I read your post on the UK forums.
