Question ROW Vin Numbers in the USA

I have question. I am in the market for a Porsche 968 and have located one which I think is reasonable, but it has an ROW vin number. Will this be a problem and will I affect its market value in the future. Should it be discounted from US models?

The Car fax indicates the car came into port in North Carolina in the USA but the option code 113 indicates it’s a Canadian model.

Are there additional Pro’s or Con’s with this car?

Thanks could anyone shed some light on this for me.

Interesting question. You might try posting on one of the 968 specific boards. I have not heard of any gray market 968s. Not sure how Canadian models entered the continent.

Any car for Canada will have the same WP0AA or WP0CA vin. The cars are all US spec so that is not a concern. Importing it to US, you will need to pay duties and depending on your state, the DMV might require you getting certifications from EPA or PCNA to confirm that the car was built to US spec.
My turbo is from Canada. You will need to swap the speedo to mph and get rid of DRL, which is just a simple fuse.

Why would he have to get rid of the DRL?

Its silly but if for that model year the car did not come with DRL in US, then you would need to disconnect them. Like I said, its as simple as pulling the fuse.

i believe that may be a state by state thing - in california, they are probably ok - we have no required light inspections whatsoever when registering a car, or any other time for that matter
