How about http://www.parkplaceltd.com/pages/fi...e.aspx?id=4695
They are always on the high side of pricing.
Nice car though!

I would say it depends on the service history, how recently the belts and such had been done. Depending on that I'd say it's between 17-18k. It doesn't show the drivers side bolster in the ebay auction, that may be worn with 80k miles. Good luck,

Steve

Seriously? I would think that the car -- if as described -- would easily go for $15.0k, minimum. Not that I would pay that at the moment... In fact, the reserve was north of that last time: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4545394206

Nice rides! I particularly like this one as a potential garage queen AND it's a convertable, which I'm much more partial to as a "fun" car in this climate. I already have two 944 coupes, one of which will be set up mostly for track use, so this one (if I decide to pursue it) is strictly for the garage, maybe to wash wax & take around the block once a week or on those occasional trips out of town. No way I'd use this car for daily use.

The guy's asking price is a bit high but he seems to think he could finance the whole price. . . Hmmm. . . I'm getting that evil little voice in my head again. Last time I heard it I ended up coming home with a 951!

The 'guy' is a fairly upscale dealership in Bill Gates' little hometown.

To answer your initial question - somewhere around $20k would be a good price. Anything below would be a great deal. As the dealer is asking $22.5 on their website, and that is always negotiable by 1-2k, this would seem like a good number. Remember though, convertibles in the spring is a seller's market.

Recent black book values for a 92 (only ones I have handy) were:
Excellent - $23,700
Good - $16,700
Fair - $11,675

Looks like a nice example. As a 944 guy you know the deal with belts and rollers. On the 968 you will also want to know if the transmission pinion bearing has ever been repaired. That $1500 adventure can occur as late as 90k miles. Knowing if the clutch is original would also be nice, though they are not as expensive to replace as on a 944 or 951 at ~$900.

Since it's a dealer, I'd want to check and make sure the wheels are Porsche and not replica's, that the tonneau cover is there, then go through the whole options list, check for the tools and compressor, make sure they have the service books (they'll tell you they have them, then they get 'lost' just before you close), tires match, etc etc. Have someone local look at the car for you too.

Nice examples, especially the CS.
I have a '95 black/black 968 6spd with 28k original miles. Excellent shape inside and out.
How much is it worth? I might put it up for sale soon, and I'm thinking around $22k.
I'm losing interest in these 968's.
Especially when I can sell this one and get a MINT 951S, and have some $ left over.

OK, I'll send the guy another e-mail tonight with a few more questions (I already sent him a laundry list of the obvious stuff, to which he replied rather politely - I honestly didn't expect it from a dealership). He said he'd sell it for $19.5k so I'll start with that. Honestly I don't expect it to go anywhere but you never know. . . I said the same thing about my 951 when I went in to talk to that guy. . .

Interesting. Do you know the owner?

I'm wondering, why go to all of the trouble to import a 968CS and spend all of that money to put the safety stuff back in it and leave it with that stuff in it after it is federalized? At that point, it's really not much different from a regular 968, right?

I know the owner very well and can answer most questions for you. He is a very good friend of mine.
He came to US on an assignment from Germany approx 3 years back. He brought the CS with him and had it federalized when he got a work extension.
Now that he plans to go back to Germany, it makes no sense for him to take the car back.
He is a very honest guy and there are no unknowns on that car.

I live in Redmond, and have looked at the 968 at Park Place. It's in very nice condition and the wheels are Porsche Cups. It does have the typical dings here and there and right around the front hood emblem is what looks like some serious oxidization, looks like it was really buffed out prior to consignment. The under-carriage is as dirty as you would expect it to be for a car with those miles. Nothing special.

It IS a really nice example of a 968 and would be a pleasure to own knowing the complete history of course. Overall, I thought it was going to be a bit nicer in person though. I got back in mine and drove off knowing I got a car just as nice for FAR less $$
