Default Seat Upgrade

I have been looking into upgrading my seats. I have looked into the Sparco Milano L and Suede models. I found seats made by Cobra as advertise in Excellence pg 36 of April 2005. These seat are available for an extra cost in custom color to match my exhisting interior.

Do you guys have any insites on these brands or are there others that I should be looking at? Let me know and thanks

You've got such a nice car, why put in non-Porsche seats when you can find nice sport seats if you look hard enough? Unless you're really tracking the car the stock sport seats are great. If you really want to change, check out some of the custom Recaro seats available-that's sticking true to Porsche, at least.

Miles

Those Cobra seats look even better than the pictures in Excellence. I would love a set of them. I saw a pair in an early 80s model 928 a few months back. They must have run him close 30% or more of the value of the car and they cost quite a bit more than a good set of Sport seats. In line with Damians comments, the Recaro built sport seats in my 911SC were the best seats I've ever had for comfort and looks IMHO. I have thought about finding a set of those and having them recovered for my 968. The cashmere beige has not held up as well as I would like and the standard electric seats in the 968 just aren't very comfortable. The center of the bottom section has gone really soft. It feels like a really fat man has driven the car a lot, but all three owners including me are fairly small. My Boxster has a lot more miles and the seats still feel great, but there doesn't appear to be much difference in the way they are made.

Too tacky for my taste. Miles, you have a very nice car. I would either look for 993 early or late style sports seats.
I have a set in my turbo as well and I just love them. I will be switching to factory clubsport/turbo S style Recaro's soon for the turbo. Winter's are for projects and I have been busy with mine .

Flash your seats look awesome! Are they the Recaro sport sportline or sport topline model. I have found out that make a stock "Midnight Blue" leather model that should match my interior without custom order or expense

Hi Raj,
Yes, I think there is a very fine line between Tacky/Ricey. I have a tendency toward tacky/ricey and this is why I seek so many opinions prior to making these decisions. Thanks to all who have replied so far and hopefully more will chime in with their thoughts

Miles, how often do you use your car? Also, what build are you? It might help determine what should be the priority, look or comfort.

All this talk of seats is making me jealous as I havn't actually got any now, nor carpets nor foam nor glue (at last!)

At least they went to a good home.

Heres to carrying on with the weight loss plan (the car and I!)

Graham

Still can't make up my mind between the Recaro Pro Racer XL SPG or XL SPG

Notice the XL bit!

Graham, I would publicly like to thank you for selling me those beautiful CS seats. They are at a good home and will be well cared of.
Regards.

I have found a local Recaro distributer was has a Sportline seat in "midnight blue". I am going to check them out this week. Here is a picture of my current seats. They are in great shape although they were a little dirty in this shot. FYI those are paw prints from the dog who was playing in the mud prior to getting into my clean car. I have not seen my dogs since she made the paw prints....Don't tell my wife

Hi!

I´m planning to change my seats also. Does anybody know which are the ligthtest seats in the market that still are "seats" (not baquets). Where to start looking?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Graham,

I just picked up a Recaro Pro Racer SPG...also in the XL size! Don't feel too bad, my 17 year old son had said that the Regular Pro Racer SPG felt snug, when we tried them out!

My suggestion would be for you to go with the Pro Racer, and have that additional head/neck protection. I don't find that it blocks my vision much.

I'm also going for a HANS this year. As a friend said over drinks Saturday night, "IF the technology is out there and you don't use it, then shame on you."
