At least theoretically, a turbocharger can be damaged if it is not sized correctly. If the turbo operates beyond the Surge line (turbocharger map) for a long time, it will break for sure. Surge is a very destructive event in which air slam back the compressor impeller in the oposite direction. Just my 2 cents about.

I think the turbo here made enough power upto 5500rpm. It would be safe to assume it is only slightly smaller than it needs to be on teh hotside. But I see what you are saying. A K26/6 will not last too long on my car either.

I saw Jason's car when it was near completion up on the lift at Rick's shop... stunning, to say the least.

I also checked out the motor while it was being built...also very very nice.

Rick does great work.

Rick, I think that is amazing. I love the look of the conversion!

Can you tell us more about the intercooler?

Perhaps I misnamed the part. In this picture, what is the thing at the front and where did it come from?

Hi All,

That piece behind the intercooler is a copy of the 968 Factory turbo intercooler duct...it directs the hot air out the opening in the hood...

Yes, those are Mahle turbo pistons for the 2 valve head made to go in the Alusil bore of the 968 block.....

Rick, quick question. Why cheap out on the wastegate? The factory wastegate is a total piece of crap and bleeds boost from 4psi on. Why not go with a better or a dual port wastegate and take full advantage of the motor?
BTW, looks very similar to my setup .

Rick, I am not questioning your knowledge and I hope you don't take it like that but its a known problem with stock wastegates. They bleed off boost. I know you do this for a living but an open mind is not a bad thing.
I will be more than glad to go to the back of the room if you prove me wrong. You asked for opinions and I gave you mine. I didn't know the opinions were only supposed to be positive. Sorry for sharing my opinion.
Raj
