Default If you have wondered on the longevity of the 968

Just noticed this 968 for sale in Germany. It has done 638.000 kms and still running strong. Current owner did rebuild the engine at 550.000 kms, but still quite impressive and it certainly should put to bed any concerns regarding how far your 968 can go..

Porsche boasts that 70% of their cars ever produced are still on the road.
A guy who auto-crosses his 1968 911, has 460K miles on it, 3 engine rebuilds....

If Porsche would continue making all the wear parts, hint hint Classic Porsche., they will be around a long time.
Going to zinc dipping the chassis in 1974 makes a world of difference.

I love how the 968's with sun roofs are called Targas by the Germans.

Sadly, until we put enough pressure on Porsche Classic to produce another run, your 968 will last as long as your timing belt tensioner does.

I’m a 968 newbie, please pardon the question - I assume that new 968 timing belt tensioners are NLA?

Someone just posted this link to the Porsche Classic NLA parts request. I’d suggest we all start sending them requests early and often.
https://www.porsche.com/usa/accessor...navailability/

This is the part number:
94410507406

You know you can input part numbers into the feedback form as suggestions, right? I was told that when they get enough requests, they start lookinng at producing parts again.

Just thinking of other parts on this car that may be rarer, as time goes on. The DME, the MAF. The rotor/distributor mount.
