Default Plan to put my coupe on BAT

I decided last night that I'll sell my 1994 Midnight Blue Coupe. 54k miles, only needs a few items minor issues looked into to practically be a show car. Even better is the great options list and full original condition. I plan to get some professional paint ding touchup done and put it on bringatrailer. But I'd be fine with a nice offer from one of my fellow Rennlist members. I've had the seats reconditioned and installed midnight blue floor mats since the pictures I'm attaching today. Has 100milesish on the fresh timing/balance belt and water pump a couple of years ago.

Be prepared to be told you need to do a No Reserve auction that’s the way they are going now

Sad, why sell? It's such a beautiful example.

Pretty car. Very similar to mine, but I just turned 90K.
Sorry to see it go....

I have had my black on black '94 968 Cab since 1995. It's in horrible cosmetic condition, over 200k miles. I figured it would work well to have collector version 968 to discourage me from trying to semi restore my Cab. But this coupe is in such great shape I feel I should just store it, so I'm not enjoying it. Of course the other thought is go ahead and drive it, but to me this one is too good to drive. I sort of ran into the same situation with the last old boat I bought. The other issue is I decided that I'll buy a Mercedes AMG GT to part time drive, so I can use the cash and will need to clear out a parking spot. I don't mind risking this car with no reserve. I got a great deal when I bought it.

Cars are meant to be driven. If you really like the open driving experience, maybe sell both and get a cab in the shape you want. But storing them doesn't do the car or yourself any favors. Even though they are reasonably rare, 968's will likely never fund someone's retirement... I know that when I get around to restoring my 87 NA, I will never get the money out that I intend to put in, but it's going to be a labor of love. The 968 serves as my daily driver in the meantime. (When it's running, of course!)

I couldn't agree more. So, in this case it's best that this 968 head to BAT.

I did not see it on BAT, I am interested in purchasing.

Looks like I can't send you private messages so maybe you can't send any to me either. My email is drjohnsey@gmail.com. I'm sure I'm still a month or two from getting the car fully auction ready. For sure I'll take offers in the meantime.

Can you post some more pictures of your car? and the option list in the trunk? Do those seats have blue piping?

I'm curios about the "seat reconditioning" and what that entails as the linen seats in my 951 look about the same as yours before they were treated. Nice looking car.

Love your side booster covers. Should help them last...

The professional leather reconditioner is a friend of mine. He described it as "he rubs the paint in with his hands". He says it will last just like the original leather, but personally I'd believe that after I saw it. Now if I can just find a professional to fix up my paint as well as the seats this car will be hard to top.

The last owner put the side bolsters on. I have sports seats in my cabriolet. It really needed side bolsters. As does the AMG GT I just bought. I'll have to google soon.

The car is beautiful, the paint is rare, but the interior is probably a little polarizing.

One doesn't see many well-taken-care-of cars outside the black/white/red set. There are a few odd ones out there now (including the one that just sold on BaT) where you have to scratch your head a little. Deferred maintenance, oddities in the finish, unsettling provenances, etc. It'd be cool it your bolsters were like new and you put those guards on purely preventatively. It's the kind of little thing hat reassures buyers that the car is indeed well-sorted and responsibly-owned.

I think your car will do well on BaT. I'll watch it. I might buy it!

Good luck.
