Club Sport Rear Seat Delete
Following a conversation with a RLer about a 968 Rear Seat Delete "shelf" that he had for sale, and with the realisation that it is simply a piece of Ply covered in Carpet, I thought I'd have a go at making one myself..
I came across a very helpful RLer who posted dimensions of said Club Sport Shelf, upon which I could base mine, which helped immensely..
Starting point..
Measure out section to create Shelf: 1297mm x 350mm
Cut the Curves, Sand the Edges..
Remove centre hump section ..
Sand that off..
Measure & Cut "foot"..
Not looking so bad so far..
Offer up for fitment..
..to see..
..if I'm on..
..the Right Track..
Next, tack and glue the Catch Rail..
Add some Gravity..
Next, varnish, just to protect..
Looks great..
The Brackets are Porsche Parts..

Looks great! Are you going to affix the trailing edge of the underside of the shelf to the lower seat back, how the factory did it?

Unless there is a CS Owner on here that can tell me otherwise..!

I had one in my 944. The shelf definitely gets fixed to a bracket on the seat back to the trailing edge of the shelf. I never had these in my 944 so with only the seat belt brackets holding the shelf these was a lot of movement forward and back of the shelf. Because of this I never carried anything heavy on the shelf. check out this photo of a CS with the shelf removed. I'm not 100% certain, but I think these brackets are the same as the ones in the 944 cabs for those rear seat delete cubbies

Had a look on RosePassion and found this..

No mention of brackets at the rear, but there are two hex head bolts, that thread upwards through the Shelf..?

that will be the right bolts. found an old photo of the underside of my old shelf. There must be something on the other side under the carpet to keep the bolt captive like for the tie down points

Carpet arrived yesterday, and it is GREAT..! Really plush Perlon [!], should be a near perfect match for what is in there currently..
Of course, pulling on this Club Sport thread has meant that I now want one of these.. Although with the Carpet I have, I could probably sort the Rear Seat Base delete myself..
