Default strange starting issue

Have any of you had a hard starting when the car is parked on a sloped drive with the rear downward? I have had three or so hard starts when the car was in this orientation and the motor with semi warm.

It seems like fuel....draining back into the tank?

There is a check valve in the fuel system that might be failing in your car. Do you have the schematics of our cars?

I have the PET and Work Shop Manual for 944 and 968. Does that have the schematics in them?

Yeah, look at the shop manual. It should have it. It is a common problem, happens often.

I have the same issue. I plan to put on a new check valve, fuel filter and DME relay for the fuel filter soon.

Hey my car does that every once in a while also. I thought my fuel pump was going. Raj how hard/expensive is this to replace?

I just ordered the replacement check valve for < $15 from Paragon. My understanding is that it is attached to the fuel filter but Raj may be able to correct this. I was replacing the filter anyway and Chuck@Paragon suggested this as something easy to do while in there.

As for difficulty, the fuel filter is visible on the passenger side from underneath the car. The lines appear to be designed to limit the amount of fuel lost when the filter is removed. I plan to get under there with a catch pan to collect the fuel, remove the filter, and hopefully the check valve will be right there attached to the filter. If this is right then it should be no more difficult than changing the filter.

Ken, never done it myself. Someone on the turbo board just posted the same question regarding the fuel pumps location and it is under the fuel tank cover.
As far as the check valve, I think Bruce would be better in answering this as well as I have never done the check valve before.
Sorry but no hands on experience on either, so I would NOT speak as authority, lol.

I just had a look at the PET. The check valve on 944 608 951 000 is not attached to the fuel filter but is attached to the fuel pump. There appears to be a short piece of hose connecting the filter and the pump so hopefully it is not too far away. The check valve is between the pump and the line leading to the filter.
