Default Die Cast 968 Cab

www.ewacars.com now has the Minichamps model in stock. I just went there and bought mine. Available only in Guards Red, 1994. It's a euro model, with side marker lamps and door guards. Looks like 17" cup 1's.

I'm having a fellow who works there on Saturdays paint mine in yellow. He's charging me $20 plus the cost of the paint can. You will lose the emblem and rear script in this process. If anyone wants this done, pm me and I'll give you his cell number. You have to use a Tamiya spray paint, which they have in many colors-the yellow I have is not an exact SY match, but I'm not complaining.

This same guy says that Minichamps will be offering a 1:18 scale version some time in the future. This model is 1:43, btw.

Correct me if I'm wrong...please. The 1/43 scale is about a 5"x3" car, and the 1/18 scale is about 11"x4.5"? I may have to go pull my manual and calculate this out.

I don't know the comparison-the 43 fits nicely in my hand, I didn't pick up any 18 models.

I would say 1/43 is about twice the size of a Hotwheels/Matchbox car.

I don't suppose anyone has ever made a 968 Coupe in 1/18th scale. Have they?

Default Cool

I have about 12 of these cars now in different colors but no red cabs. We'll have to order one up. I see he has 4000 units! I would expect the speed yellow coupe to show up soon.

I just bought a 2nd Hasegawa at Dunkels Swap meet over the weekend. You are correct the model is 1:24. The fellow I bought it from claimed he bought the entire back stock from the manufacturer (approx 250 units) $27. In addition he had 2 1:43 metal models- one purple, one yellow....both coupes- $35. I already have a couple. He said that in the next few weeks one of his manufacturers will be shipping a newly redone Cab model for those that are interested.

I once bought a plastic model kit of the 944 in 1/24th scale. I can't remember if it was made by Tamiya or Revell.

As far as I can tell, a plastic model 944 is no longer available.

I shoulda bought about 20 and held on to them !

Makes you wonder if there is any minor investment potential in plastic kits.

I've never even seen a 944 kit on Ebay...unassembled or otherwise.
