A Porsche dealer is always going to sell you the right kit. Sunset Porsche has great prices.

Urgently need a 968 clutch kit but because of cost to ship to NZ and then import taxes I have to be mindful of cost.

I have looked at:

RS barn, $1,199.00 http://www.rsbarn.com/catalog/index....roducts_id=172
paragon, $996.10, https://www.paragon-products.com/Clu...116.911.00.htm
pelican, $753.25 or $817.50, https://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin...968-116-911-00
all zims, $625.00, http://www.allzim.com/store/clutch-kit-968-92-95.html
rock auto, $502.79, https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...994&cc=1263776
rock auto, $564.79, https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...263776&jsn=360
sonnen, $922.70, https://www.sonnenporscheoemparts.co...it-96811691100
lindsey racing, who only have SPEC kits starting at $1,011.00, https://www.lindseyracing.com/LR/Par...CHSPEC968.html
and sunset, $938.61, https://www.sunsetporscheparts.com/o...it-96811691100

I'm looking locally too but 99% sure they will just go to Porsche NZ who are usually 2-3 times the above vendor prices.

Can anyone confirm if Rock Auto or All Zims use the correct 968 pressure plate?

Thanks,
Jae

I would ONLY purchase your kit from a dealer or reputable specialty shop (ie, one of your first three options) and would NEVER EVER EVER recommend purchasing something like this from Rockauto which has complete contempt for their customers.

I can vouch for RS Barn as providing the correct pressure plate and IMO the peace of mind justifies the cost.

JMO, good luck.

I do agree, Rockauto' website doesn't fill me with confidence.

I went with a pressure plate and clutch hardware from Paragon, the clutch plate and release bearing from Sonnen.

Doesn't that stick you with 2 X the shipping cost?

I have to pay tax at a certain threshold on the total value of an invoice including shipping. I try to keep consignments small to stay under the threshold, or at least keep it low.

I also try to use vendors who use free shipping within the US and have parts sent to my box in Oregon. Its a system called www.youshop.co.nz organised by NZ Post to give us kiwis a US delivery address. They will then consolidate shipments back to NZ and even repack multiple parcels if have more than one. They show you how much you save by repacking but if you combine to many invoices you run the risk of blowing the tax threshold.

Stick with dealer purchase. You will get the right part.

I have a complete used clutch kit for sale with 35K miles on the parts. Also includes a DM flywheel with 100K miles. I changed all of the parts including the flywheel and the slave cylinder just because I'm a little OCD on these projects, plus the PO installed the common Sachs kit with the 964 pressure plate. It was all working perfectly though and would be a good low budget solution to get someones' 968 going again.

$200 plus shipping for the lot.....DM Flywheel, 964 (blue stripe) pressure plate, clutch disk, release bearing, slave cylinder, used hardware.

Jerry, be sure to install the correct pressure plate. I have bought 2 968's with the wrong pressure plate and both had cracked firewalls. The correct pressure plate also makes driving the car much more enjoyable.

Can a 944 turbo clutch disk with the spring center be used for the 968? And can the 968 dual-mass flywheel be strategically lightened and balanced to make a little more rev-happy?
