Default 964 Turbo 3.6 problem.

I have a problem with my car, and, I thought this would be the best place to ask.

Basically, I took my 964 out yesterday and did a couple of short journeys, and after the second one, my battery was too flat to start the car.

I called my son, who came and helped me to try jump start the car. Although the car span over quickly, it failed to fire at all!

I then called my breakdown recovery service, but we were still left in the same position.

The mechanic thought that the jump starting may have spiked the system somewhere?

I have tried to start it again today, but it doesn't fir at all!

Any ideas? Is ther a trip of any kind on these cars?

Thanks in advance

I can't think of anything that could have been fried by a jump start.
You are going to have to go through the time honored spark & fuel routine.
Sorry.

This is what I would check first

1 are the fuel pumps running? (maybe fuse or relay )
2 spark at the coil ?
3 over boost switch at back of intercooler ?( ground brown wire as a bypass )

If it cranks for ever but there isnt even a puff in the exhaust, pull a lead and check for spark. Then check the coil. If they have spark go to fuel.

Or, put an inductive timing light on a plug lead and crank it over. If there is spark, the light will flash. If there is no spark, check the condition of the flywheel sensor first. The plug tends to deteriorate and fall apart.

Boost pressure switch at intercooler has failed or wires have come loose. Cuts off fuel pump.

What Elliot said .. ground it to test.

Someone should make a flowchart of what to check. Any volunteers?

A new strain of HINI that was recently discovered in Europe. It's an RNA stranded virus that unlike your other viruses, penetrates European men through the opening between the gluteal muscles.

It seems to cause abdominal pain, lots of flatulence and some "Men" have even reported rectal itching.

Since most of it's activity is localized among men, hence the name "Man Flu"

Hope that helps

Ok, so I have done a small amount of diagnostic work.

I checked all the fuses, and they are all ok. I swapped the horn relay and the pump relay over(as they seemed to be the same type!) but, it still wouldn't start!

There does however seem to be fuel getting through, as there is a strong smell of it!

Ok then, start looking at ignition. Check the flywheel sensor.
