Default Problems with Short Shifter

Hello,

I purchased an FVD short shifter for my Turbo 3.6 and had the dealership install it unfortunately they say its not possible to close the cover under the car "chassis" because of the Short Shifter. Has anyone experienced such a thing ?

Oh boy...
If its anything like the FD SSK then your mechanics need to flip the shifter bushing over... If that is indeed the case I would be very hesitant on continuing to use your mechanic. Read the link and maybe this is indeed the case. Good luck!

I just installed the FD SSK with the golden rod . I haven't driven it yet but damn it feels waaaaaay better than before. I would go as far to use the words crisp, clean, defined and wow when comparing it to stock.

Thanks for the quick replies, it doesn't make sense that you can't fit the cover I knew something was off. I think I'll have them install the oem setup and pick up my car next Wednesday.

It doesn't fit because new holes for the shaft the shifter slides on have to be cut above the the old ones on the '91 cars.

How long do you guys reckon it would take to uninstall the SSK ? 2 hours ?

Because I am having them install the radio tomorrow morning as long as fixing the ding if they finish early on Saturday or Sunday.

Monday & Tuesday off for National Day and work resumes on Wed and Thursday (1/2 day working hours)

If your car is a 91 like mine you have to drill our the shifter tunnel to accommodate the reversible new style shifter bushing. It took me an hours to measure and cut ,then about 30 minutes to do the rest. It was really easy so 2 book hours sounds about right.

Honestly, once on the lift, 10 min. I believe they just need to flip the bushing over and all will be fine.
