Hi guys,
I was just watching an old Top Gear video where which one of the cars Tiff Needld featured/test drove was the 964 3.6 Turbo. He also mentioned that this car produces 360 bhp at 0.9 bar of boost straight out from the box.
My impression was that the stock turbos always were running at 0.75 to 0.8 bar of boost.
Can any of you please advise or is there any good website which says it does come at 0.9 bar of boost pressure straight from the factory.

This link states "Turbocharging max. pressure 0,7-0,9 bar"!:

I would also love to see the topgear video when Tiff drives the 964 3.6 Turbo!

The original turbo 3.6 Porsche factory hardcover sales book/brochure, from my recollection, features a picture of the dash displaying an indication of 0.9 bar boost.

Sign me up on the list of guys on this board who would just love to see that video!
I just send an email to Top Gear at BBC to find out if there is a way of order this program on tape. Not much hope, but it's worth a try.
Sameer, I know it's a lot to ask, but would it be possible for you to get hold of that video again and have it converted to any digital format ?

Got this reply from Top Gear, there is at least hope.
Thanks for your message. If it catches Jeremy's eye we're sure he'll mention
it on the programme, and we'll be posting some of the best ones on the Top
Gear website.
We'll be in touch if we can.
The Top Gear team.

Ok guys,
I spoke to Stuttgart Singapore earlier and they told me that the turbo 3.6 does come straight from factory with a 0.9 bar boost spring.
The title of this video is "BBC Top Gear SuperCars with Jeremy Clarkson and Tiff Needell"
One of the Supercars they feature is the 3.6 turbo. They take the 964 turbo 3.6 (terquoise or light green colour) to the track doing a flat out top speed of 174mph, 0-60 acceleration, braking distance and around the country sides.
I will try and get it converted to digital tomorrow. Let me see, I've never done this before but it's sure worth watching it. I got this video 7-8 years ago.

I'm not sure if this is correct. I never see more than 0.7 on the boost gauge.
Of course I don't know how accurate the gauge is. Perhaps a 0.9 bar spring was a factory option - I do seem to recall that some 3.6 cars left the factory with more than 360bhp...?
But my understanding is that 0.7 bar = 360bhp.
OK just checked my owner's manual and it quotes the power as 360bhp, and says that max boost should be "between 0.6 bar and 0.7 bar".

Sameer, it would be just great if you could convert it!
Greg, I have been told that the digital gauge (at least on the 3.3l) doesn't show more than 0.7, no matter what. Could be the same thing with the 3.6l cars.

greg,staffan,
The 3.3 does come between 0.7 to 0.8 bar but the 3.6 comes with 0.9 bar spring. The factory brochure says it and even Tiff in TopGear.
The 3.3 turbo S comes with 0.9 or 1 bar if I'm not mistaken.
Will look into the digital conversion today.

Okay guys,
Was at Stuttgart earlier this afternoon for our little tea gathering. Apparently for the US market, the boost level for the 3.6 turbo comes lower. This is due to your fuel.
For the Euro markets it comes set at 0.9 bar from factory cause we have better fuel(98-100)RON.
