No it doesn't. I was going to post a question about this. It's well known that the gauge will only show 0.7 max, but why??? Is this a mechanical measurement restriction or did someone go to the bother of coding the display to max out at 0.7?

I know the 993 gauge shows true boost.

And another question about this topic: What boost does an European 3,6 show on it's gauge ? It should be 0,9. In that case maybe a simple replacement of some thingie will correct this wrong measurement in a 3,3.
I read some posts back that Tiff's 3,6 actually showed 0,9. Interesting but hard to find out which part controlls this.

Oscar -

my Turbo 3.6 never shows more than 0.7 bar. My owner's manual states that maximum boost is between 0.6 bar and 0.7 bar. According to the manual, 0.7 bar provides 360 bhp.

The simplest explanation to my mind is that the gauge is reading correctly, and that boost is limited to 0.7 bar on a stock car.

Not sure if this is the corrcet video being talked about but it is still for sale if it is!

I own a 3.3T does anyone know of any other videos that show this car or the 3.6 in action.

It would be great if you could a collection of all the first tests ( programs like top gear etc.) on video dated back to 90/91 for the 3.3 and 92/93 for the 3.6

I think everyone with a Turbo 2 would have the video in the collection.

My best info is that the C2T's ran .7 bar which was less that the 930's. The factory limited the gage to .7 bar because that was all they were suposed to run and so that if it ran a bit higher on overboost the customer did not freek.Porsche also had a motor kit that ran a higher .85 bar. ....

I agree with you guys that it ran at 0.7 bar but than how do you'll explain Tiff Needle's statement in Top Gear??

Also checked the factory manual at Stuttgart Singapore where it says 0.9 bar.

Maybe different boost for different locations or was the car they featured in Top Gear with the factory option kit on it or just different boost for different regions due to better grade of fuel??

Cool

Watched the video this morning when it arrived in post. Recommended Just to laugh at how Bad Jeremy Clarksons' hair was in the early 90's.

The Porsche footage is also good. You are right that they say 0.9 Bar booast 174MPH top speed and 360BHP.

I would say that maybe the original spec sheet at the factory quoted the 0.9 but when the car was released they only went for 0.7 hence only 360BHP

Think about it 3.6 T2 at 360 BHP
3.3T2 at 320BHP

Both run 0.7 boost.

James in his posings gives readouts for a 1 bar spring on his 3.3 getting him up to 380BHP.
However this is only using about 0.85 - 0.9 boost.

Therefore logic would say that on the 3.6 putting 0.9 boost should give you more power than the 3.3 and not only 360BHP the car produces.

Just trying to do my Mr Spook analysis - Logic

Did get me thinking though did Porsche have plans for a 400plus BHP in 1993 but thought they would save the idea for the twin turbo 4 wheel drive 993 on saftey concerns.

I was just watching an old Top Gear video where which one of the cars Tiff Needld featured/test drove was the 964 3.6 Turbo. He also mentioned that this car produces 360 bhp at 0.9 bar of boost straight out from the box.

My impression was that the stock turbos always were running at 0.75 to 0.8 bar of boost.
Can any of you please advise or is there any good website which says it does come at 0.9 bar of boost pressure straight from the factory.
