Default Those with 18inch wheels, tell me about your tramlining

I'm trying to fix my tramlining issue. How did Porsche NA accomplish the elimination of (or did they?) tramlining with the 18inch stock speedlines?

I guess it depends on the tyre brand, suspension (how much lower than std), and what geo settings are in place...

I suffer very slight tramlining on my 18" TechArt Performance wheels with Conti N2s (225 and 265) and Billy HDs / H&R reds.

Tyre pressure could also play a big part here.

Doc, with fatter tires, tramlining becomes more noticeable.

You can reduce it, but not eliminate it fully, by having less toe-out and camber in your front settings.. :-)

At high speeds, the front lift coefficient of these cars does not help with stability and tramlining either..

I have the car lowered and run 295 on the back with pss 10's, the car was 4 wheel aligned and corner balanced I don't know if that makes a difference

Strange. I have 8X10.5 wheels and using S02's, 225/40/18 and 285/30/18. I've done some internet research and all claim to be related to tire width and profile. So, because I have same 18 inch wheels as the 3.6 I thought maybe the 3.6 965 had same issues.

I changed out my uprights to EVO hoping it would help but no joy.

Hey!? who said that??

Just kidding Jean. I was just going on with my observations. Ok, I'll check out more caster, but I think for some reason I was not able to get more caster than 4.01. I read a thread by viperbob (what ever happened to him?) where he was running caster of 5+ and helped with the same problem.

Went from 265 to 285, without re-alignment > increased tramlining

Duh, Duh, Duh! I went under to make sure everything was tight and noted the driver side lower ball joint was loose! I had dynamic caster as I accelerated and braked. The tech who aligned it apparently forgot to tighten it down. Well, Now I'll go back and get re-aligned. I tightened it and tried to measure and mirror the passenger side and now it rides much, much better, but now my steering wheel is ****-eyed.

Thanks, all.

You sure are working through your issues the hard way. Your project has had many challenges, but I feel you are the home stretch now. Jim
