Did you guys see the 3.6s in the for sale section? He's also mentioned a few that Ray has on the market right now as well. I don't know how to link other threads on Rennlist. If someone tells me how, I'll put the link here.
I'm thinking of selling to fund a pure track car/trailer purchase.

Thanks Kimo.
There is also a thread in the members section that list several more cars.
Like this one - http://www.rpmsportscars.com/door9.htm
and going for as high as $97K.

That's some interesting appreciation - and great news for everyone on this thread. I don't think any 996 will ever do this.

I think these prices are insane. Glad I am already in the club.

Good news for you 3.6 guys.
I still don't understand how the 3.3's are still so cheap, and compared to 3.6's 993TT's and 964RS, are the bargain of the decade!!

PTurbo965,
If you sell your car, you will get a lot for it, but you will have one heck of a time replacing it.
I would get a cheap track car and drive it to the track on sport cup tires or ra-1's. Don't give in!!!

My thinking right now, and you guys' comments are welcome, is that modifying my current car would lower the value more than raise it. It weighs a fair amount, so I'm looking at getting a 964 or 993 C2 and taking out as much weight as possible and paying someone for an engine build. Of course, I'd love to keep my current car and set up a sweet track car, but I can't do both and do everything else that I have to do. I'm thinking about an NA car with a hardened engine for learning and maybe graduating later back to a turbo if I missed it or wanted more high end. Who knows? I may end up with another, albeit less expensive turbo.

Don't mod the current car. If you are concerned about wadding it up, just buy another car. Not sure where you are located, but you can get a better deal on a well set-up track car once late Fall/Winter hits. Some guys will be either getting out of the sport or may upgrade to another track car. Take advantage of that as it is way less expensive than building your own track car from scratch. Or just buy a factory built Cup...... Good luck with your decision.

I found a way to make it work, I located a great 87 G50 Carrera, the price was right. I then had it lowered, new Koni adjustables, clutch, major service etc. The 3.6 sits covered in the third stall and gets exercised at least every other week. Given the way it's appreciating I am able to justify the second car.
Think it through before you make the decision to run the ad!

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts. I did plan on looking at cars that are already set up for the track this winter, as it's not just a great time to buy motorcycles and boats.
As for the regret - yes, it will be there if I sell, but resources are not unlimited and choices must be made. I'm sure I'll be watching Barrett-Jackson 10yrs from now after muscle cars are no longer the rage and a 3.6 will roll across and bring $265k or some crazy number.

I have to agree these numbers are becoming insane. The 94 turbo US market is approaching the 94 turbo S and 993TTS in % resale of its original price. Yes these prices are for extremely low all original cars but it is raising the pricing of the higher mileage cars also. Meanwhile I am seeing an increase in 91-92 cars also. I have seen several sell in the $50k price range and a few years back that was unheard of.
I hope he gets his price. Although for a few bucks more you can pick up a nice 997GT3.
BTW if you can afford to buy a second car, I highly recommend it. I purchased a nice 93 C2 mostly set up and makes quite a fun track toy. You can easily get everything you need completely set up with extra rubber in under $30k or spend a lot less and build as you go.
