964 Turbo 0-60mph (100kph) times
G'day
Just been reading a thread on the 964 page about actual 0-60mph (100kph) times recorded by owners and the issues they faced in trying to get quick times. Interested to hear from turbo drivers what times they have recorded and how these compare to the factory claims. Being an owner of a standard 3.3T model keen to hear how far behind the 3.6 boys we are based or real world figures.
Cheers

Unfortunately my standing starts to date have been restricted to traffic lights, usually as a result of an invitation by a neighbouring WRX, Evo or some other rice cooker. No stop watch running at the time, just the wife sitting beside me telling me its time I grew up.

I'm sure what she means is that it's time for you to buy a track car in addition to your 911.
I don't know my personal 0-60 time either. I know that it is faster than anyone else around me if I want it to be.

buy and AX-22 or a driftbox and remember
0-60 mph is different than 0-100 kph (same as 0-62 mph).
good luck, and 0-60 is semi-meaningless as it tends to favor Suburu WRX's and
Mitsu Evos. Your cars will shine in the 60-130 mph catagory.
good luck.

Nate, from reading the papers in the USA, it appears that you and T.J. need to be campaigning against the proposed stupid road tax! Hope the powers to be aren't really serious! Otherwise we may have to take up a collection for you guys! Gas is up to $2.45.00 American per gallon today! Prices are like a yo yo! Funny, Prices are all the same at an intersection with a station on each of four corners. And the punch line is they have different distributors! Price fixing?
We can see price swings of up to $.45 overnite, don't know how you guys cope!
Hang in there, Cheers, TJN/VK

I think it might have been my comment that Dodgy was commenting on.
I have a G-timer and have never seen great 0-60 numbers. My best was in the 4.8 second range. Although I will not drop my clutch or if I push to hard I get too much wheel spin. This really means nothing as my 0-20 time was 2.0 seconds or more. So it is showing that i am getting an awful launch. Yet If I am getting a 0-60 in 4.8 seconds with 2 seconds consumed from 0-20 that makes for a 20-60 time of 2.8 seconds which is not slow. I have recorded 1/4mile times in the 11.8 second range and again that was with a 0-20 time of 2 seconds. If I dropped my clutch and really didn't mind damaging or pushing the car that hard I am sure I can get it down to mid to low 4 seconds and a 1/4 in the high 10's low 11's.
These cars are not drag racers and to be honest like said 0-60 means little to nothing. A WRX or even my C2 can come close if not better my recorded 0-60 time with much more ease, yet pulling from a stop light or toll plaza after the first 0-30 mph you will see how the turbo just catapults itself beyond any of these cars and the real speed is not noticed until you start exceeding 40 mph. In a 1/4 mile I will have left these cars considerable distance behind and above 125 mph it is still pulling very strong.
I don't condone street racing but I have had some fun with "500" hp 993TT's and modified C5 Z06 vettes and have always used the rolling start method and from 5-whatever have never had a problem leaving these cars in my rear view mirror by considerable lengths. So if they see supper low 0-60 times it is being lost in the translation.

The car I raced at the strip really pulled away from me at the start, however I was gaining on it halfway down the track. At the end it was close, if it was 1/2 a mile I would have really embarrased that car
I hope my mods will help alot when I get back there.
