Default Damaged K27HFS For Sale

My shop was replacing my turbo today and found out that the spring that keeps the plastic intake tube from crushing under boost came loose and damaged the blades. This turbo has only 300 miles on it and I did not even know it was damaged it performed so well.

Anyway, since I was not going to use this turbo anymore and considering its condition, I was going to use it as a door stop or a lawn decoration. I spoke to Kevin and he will rebuild it for $795.00. If anyone is interested I will consider all fair offers. Please PM.

Craig

The real question is how soon after the install did the damage occur.. Performance had to be effected.. It shows you how tough these turbochargers really are..

That is a good question. The performance with the damaged blade was still excellent. Boost was super strong and did not fall off. I would have never know it was damaged if they did not take it apart.

Craig - have you checked you engine after you found this issue? Since this was on the intake side, your engine ingested all that metal. I would want to check for other damage to make sure that some catastrophic failure does not happen.

Colin

That was a concern of mine too, but the engine is being torn down to the short block and new pistons, rods, valves, heads. etc are being installed so once the block is cleaned out we should be good.

I would clean everything, including the hard oil lines and oil coolers. It only takes one chunck of former compressor wheel to f-up your new engine big time.

And how seriously impressive is it that that the whole damn compressor wheel didn't break off. I mean that is some serious damage.

Btw, If you drove a car with a fully working HFS turbo, the performance delta would be very obvious. The problem is that it is pretty hard to tell 290hp from 355hp on the street. On the track, you'd know in about 2 seconds (when the E stock 951S passed ya ).
