Just put a Forge BOV on my 965 3.6, it seems to be getting pushed off its seat, ie. the boost pressure is overcoming the spring and opening the valve while on the gas. As the acceleration seems to be a bit flatter after fitting the Forge valve.

Could this be happening? Has anyone else experienced this? Do i need the uprated spring kit offered on the Forge Website?

I havnt put a Boost gauge on it yet to compare with the two different BOV's.

Cheers.

Forge supplies more than one spring with there valves, and also supplies two shims..

How do you know that it's the Forge vs you wastegate???

Do you have a factory wastegate??

My Forge valve never came with any other springs or shims?

My W/G is stock.

All i did was fit the Forge, then went for a drive, and compared to the day before, it felt like it was loosing boost once it got up there. Only thing i did was fit the Forge valve.

What boost spring are you running? Now as the age of our cars show it teeth, did you split the control line? Did you check to see if the upper cap of the Forge valve is on tight? The green spring is rated for 1bar.. If you are over-boosting (1bar and greater) the spring will allow the valve to unseat.

I would start by checking the boost in both configurations as you pointed out to be sure on what the problem is.

If your old BOV didn't work your boost level will be more even between shifts, perhaps that could be an explenation. But again, boost pressure in both configurations is a good start.

I changed to a Forge BOV a few years ago, didn't get any extra springs or shims with it.

I recently installed a Forge BOV on my 965 T 3.6 and I installed it with the stock green spring (5-15 PSI).

It also came supplied with a small plastic bag with the Yellow (15-23 PSI), Blue (23-30 PSI) springs and two shims.

Thanks for the tips guys.

I have not had a boost gauge on the car since i have owned it (6 months)

I will start by plumbing in a boost gauge this weekend and actually see whats happening, and then change back to the stock BOV and try the same.

Thanks. Will advise what i find.

I spoke with forge directly regarding the different springs. They advised that the springs are overrated and the yellow spring would be the appropriate choice if boosting 1 bar. The green may be too weak. However this was for a Noble M400. So there may be differences. I did notice that response is much better using the yellow compared to the green spring.

Very true, they gave me that option as well. But for some reason I didn't get any shims with the valve or the sprngs. Are they supposed to be included?

Forge offers the spring kit and one can purchase the shims and other higher rated springs.

Again, for our cars I would use just the shims and the green spring.

As mentioned earlier, the new valves are shipped with a spring kit and two shims.. This has occured within the last year or so. Early purchases most likely didn't include them..

The black plastic Bosch part can fall apart and damage your turbocharger. The rubber diaphragm breaks down and falls out

I have only just (Dec 06) ordered my Forge valve and didnt get extra springs or shims...???

It seems the the green (stock spring) and shims is the go......How thick is the shim suppose to be, and i will make one.
