Turbo cool down - Turbo timer?

I find it very rare that I pull into my driveway after pushing the car hard. Mostly I find I am driving slow on a few local roads before pulling in. This is usually enough to cool things down and if I let it idle for a min while backing it into the garage it is fine and does not need additional time to cool down.

I always leave it idling for a minute or two (I don't time it, just feels like a 'reasonable time') when arrive back home- much to the annoyance of my passenger, or the neighbours!

you only need to cool it down if you have driven it real hard untill the moment you stop.
I face this situation much more when going into petrol stations in the highway, then when getting home.

Waste of money. The previous owner put one in my car and I have never used it. I drive the car regularly on the track - at the end of a run, I'll usually drive roads in the area. You want air flowing through the entire car and the best way to do that is driving it.

I have a timer built into my alarm. I just push a button on the remote, remove the key, lock the doors and arm the alarm/immobiliser. Engine cuts out after a few minutes.

Nathan,
Wow, talk about hi-tech? Something I read about recently: forget starting your car with a key, forget start-up push buttons, now they do finger print analysis start-up! Sounds like your sort of mod!

Hi guys, it's nice to talk to some brits now & then
Actually I am not a fan of too many electric gizmos, I would prefer not to have a sunroof and electric windows but the cars I own are in my budget... Just
Yes, my alarm is a clifford, before removing the key I push the open boot button.
Sending a text to my cars for them to warm up would be pretty useful as I tend to do small journeys, driving a cold car and being careful with it can be frustrating as they take so long to get the engine warm.

Mine isn't done by a text message, you press the the * button twice and then the clifford button then remove the key, the car idles until you arm it then it shuts down, then in the morning while your getting ready or after work when your almost ready to go you just press the * key and it fires up, the alarm stays active etc, then when you aproach the car use the remote to unlock and insert the key and away you go, all warm! If you set the blowers etc before you get out in the winter it's all defrosted for you, i use it all the time. (When my car isn't in the bloody shop !!)

No, my car is in the shop at the moment and they have the keys, the system is the concept 650 with some other extras like proximity and bump sensors and so on, the alarm came with two key pads, one looked similar to yours and the other had a Clifford button on it, the guy who installed it showed me how to use the different features with that remote so I don't know how to use the other one, if you've got the same system you can set it up to do the same stuff, I wouldn't know how, you'd have to ring a specialist
BTW, the boot open button on mine is set up to close the windows and sunroof, i don't recognise the other button on yours, mine has a single *, a double star **, the lock/unlock button, boot open button and a clifford button??

I don't know much about the alarm I have. I have a small booklet that would probably tell me what model it is. The other button on my fob looks like it might be for turning the headlights on, no use to me & have never tried it.
I will have a play with it when I get my car up and running, hopefully soon.
What are you having done ? Does Colin do the work on your car himself ?

He ported the heads and manifold and does all the dyno time, the rest of the work has been done between Robin and Paul.
It's in for new suspension and setting up (fast road) and extra fuel, new alternator, some other bits and bobs, basically a good once over before the blast to Le Mans, it might be ready for this weekend, i'm chomping at the bit!!
