The seats look and feel like a 10 year old car. Some of the pieces have slight water damaged. But Nothing damaging compared to most these 30 year old 964's The visors are full leather. I'm not sure how they car come apart to have the mirror replaced.
I'm leaning towards selling most of the interior as I prefer a Euro RS interior.
i can not see any sense in selling a nice, original interior. nor converting to rs interior. i own an old drivers test ( 964 3.3 x33 versus 964 rs )
and the result was: the rs is harder, direct, drives as a racecar - but a pain to drive home from circuit. the turbo is almost as fast on the track but fun on the way home. your interior is nice and can stay there. the higher weight of the turbo is fact and not reversible. so go the route al turbo owners went over decades:
so with an eye on value and another on fun i would keep it as original as possible in the visible parts. under the car you can change out to monoball, shorter, stiffer springs, muffler, modern turbo, and so on. all reversible fun - and keep the factory parts. no one knows when this price journey ends. and you may have thrown away hundrets of thousand dollars in 10 years.
The Engine has been pulled. Literally 1/4" of crud on one side of the axels. I don't think she moved for decades. I have lightly turned the engine with mainly most exterior parts disassembled. The engine looks like it can be saved. I didn't crack, strip and break any hardware. Looks like the owner over filled her in 2001 and shut her off. This will be my only chance to build a C2 Turbo 100% from ground up. My attitude is,... if i have chef's kitchen I'm not just cooking with the microwave. This car is going to have attitude and will live beyond it's past stories and i better start playing the lottery.
As has been mentioned - a good dismantler could be your new best friend. Autobahn strips all (all?) the 964s for Singer. Should be a good source for non-turbo 964 parts.

I've literally seen cars that have sat in the elements for 40 years be gotten into running condition without rebuilding.
The fact that your engine will turn over is good news. I would plan on flushing what you need to flush and re-installing. You have a lot on your plate and if you end up rebuilding the engine, you can do it later. I suspect you won't need to though.
Paul, The Rocker Shafts are opened to the environment. Although sealed off with dust covers from the spark plug wires. Steel and Aluminum don't play well with moisture and timelines of 22 years. Yes, I know just replace the Cam Towers thats easy. We'll see what else can be found inside the engine. All electrical in this car is gone. I once saw a saltwater car that the insurance co took to Chicago to sell. That was worse than this car. Might take years before the HVAC can properly work. Today I'm taking out the Crusty HVAC system. I'm not saving bits as I don't want to smell any history.
Pulled the sunroof yesterday. Motor was shorted and corroded. So I unbolted the Cable shafts, yanked the cables back. Cut the Corroded cables that were seized up and yanked the sunroof out. Typical salvage protocol.
Yes that little roof has some weight to it. next I'll cut that Sunroof carriage out, say a quick good bye to the mold and acid. Then glue in the sunroof delete panel with some fast setting Epoxy. Trim the rest of the Sunroof liner.
Also pulling the climate system and fuel tank. Both are a mess after 22 years. Then Talking to EBS about the engine rebuild.
Have you read Paolo's thread on the 993 forum. His tub was on the cover of panorama last summer or so. The car sat under water for years and he is rebuilding it using most of the original parts. Interior of course was trashed but surprisingly most everything else held up well. Porsche over engineering at its finest.
I was torn on my slick top conversion. I replaced my nearly perfect cashmere carpet with black as I didn't like the cashmere carpeting and have two amazon green cars with cashmere. I decided after some other RS type conversions for track I like the stock interior as is. The benefits of having places to hold your sunglasses or a chair if I go to an event on the back seat just made the car more accomodating for a weekend driver. My next build will be a 3.8RS clubsport cloan. If I had the money I would buy the one for sale at Gooding Amelia this weekend or offer the owner the coin before it made it to auction. There is quite the collection of 911's crossing the Gooding auction block this weekend. Should really see where these cars are heading and I expect to see multiple millions of 964's sell.
FYI if you decide to salvage the sunroof I have all the parts needed in good working order. Although deleting the sunroof does savea bout 50 pounds up high.
