So back to the market discussion.
This 17,000 mile stock Turbo 3.3 sold for $210,000 today:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...-911-turbo-32/
This was a palatable black/black car with comfort seats that was discussed in frame #107.

Tony was a friend to bounce off as I purchased my Bad Boys car the first time, then sold and then repurchased. Lots of long conversations and discussions about values of these cars.

I guess all in all ...my car has brought me more friends that I value more than I do the vehicles .

So I guess value has different meanings to some than others.
You have all been such great friends but what Mike and I lived through with the BB car only living through it could give you the entire picture. It was an honor and a pleasure that you confided in me. Some interesting times and I can't believe so many years have gone by so quickly. Nobody can say they prospered from a car more in so many ways.

I will never understand the buying of cars privately for profit. It is one thing if you are in the business like a Tim Holt or Ray Joseph who have had an eye on these cars for decades. I recall when SAMike purchased the signal green 94 and it was outrageously priced (so many thought) at $85k IIRC. I was always saying these cars are at least worth MSRP or more while being laughed at but even I had no idea we would see the numbers we are. These cars were just metal to most. I have been around these cars for nearly 45 years now and owned and sold more than in my signature. I never lost a penny except for on my Cayenne turbo which I purchased new. My SC's and others were all sold at huge profits after massive amounts of driving but I owned them because I enjoyed them not as a money maker. That was just the added gravy. I was considering selling my 15 Boxster GTSM last week since I don't drive it as often as I would like and was offered $15k over what I paid the same dealership for it back in 16 with only 8k miles on it now has 22k. I am sure i can get even more if I wanted but now that the platform is going EV in 2025 I am reconsidering. Not because I am holding out for $$ but I might not ever find something to replace it with. Just like my home which I am getting constant solicitations from relators at nearly 500% increase over what I paid for it back in 1999. The ? is where do I go from here and how much more will it cost both in purchase price and taxes.

Crazy times we live in and I don't see it slowing especially since simple things like toilet paper is up 70% in the last year assuming you can even find any for sale. Are these really appreciating or will a civic be a $100k car soon?

i drive along a market for material you need for your garden and building. they have a pool aside the road.
sitting there for two yeas now. was 9000 $ for a long time. siince today it is about 15000 $. same item. same town. same people passing by. over night it is 40% plus more.
so it is not only our cars. this is everywhere. bought our home and now it is 4 times the mney if i sell.

and so on. we will see. no credit, all bills payed. so i have no fear. but there is others out there that will
run in serious trouble...

So, I looked and looked for a 964 turbo. During the course of the search, I got distracted by the 993TT. I went down that path with enthusiasm and found a gem of a car, which I have come to really love and appreciate. However, the itch for the 964 never diminished, although the supply of good cars certainly had. Long story short, a few months ago I found a pristine '91 at Tim Holt's store. Still can't believe I found it, and the car has proven to be everything I hoped it would be. Only problem is, I can't stop driving it. It's not unusual for me to walk past the Ferraris in my garage and plunk right down in the 964 for my favorite canyon drive.

When we talk about the 964 Turbo market, I think we are talking about a spiral; as the hybrid cars become more prevalent, as the blink-blink paddle shifters take over, I start to realize how special these manual transmission, air-cooled cars really are. I'm thinking that price spiral won't stop any time soon. Heck, the somewhat stout price I paid for my 964 just a few months ago is beginning to look like a bargain based on recent BaT events...

That's a nice car.
You can't beat Speedlines on a 965, be it a 3.6 or a 3.3.

Beautiful car W. MITTY! Speedlines make the car. These truly are a perfect car in my opinion. Well built. Beautiful. Reliable. Comfortable yet visceral. So. Fun. To. Drive. - especially with just a couple simple reversible mods.
I honestly cannot think of a car I'd rather have for fun driving. Yes lots of other faster cars out there but that misses the point. I'm talking the Driving Experience.
So glad I got mine when I did - glad to know my cost basis is much lower than todays prices - helps me be okay with piling miles on - value be damned.

@W. MITTY Now I see the interest in Mark's red 3.3 on BaT. Very nice car but seems you possibly made it to Tim before the rise. I drove mine everyplace the early years when I first picked up mine. I seem to drive my others more lately but for reasons other than enjoyment. Although it takes me about 15 minutes of seat time each time I climb behind the wheel of the turbo asking myself why I like this car so much?? Then things warm up the turbos get some air in them and the Grinch eating smile goes ear to ear.

Glad you found the right car for you.

Thanks Cobalt. I swear this car is addictive...the shape, the sound, the boost, the way the steering loads up in the twisties, the brake feel. It's driving me crazy in the best possible way.

Very well said. I was driving with my daughter in the canyon the other day. She was in the Pista and I was in the 964. Told her I liked going around the corners at 50 mph in the Porsche much more than 70 mph in the Ferrari. Its all about the experience.

yisses that interior. I could bever buy a car with an interior that are not black och grey or similar.

But are buyers seeing past that and feel like it part of the 80/90 era of interiors? So then its ok.

At first glance I thought it was going to be dark maroon - was thinking I could maybe live with that if was two tone with black stuff too. Then I saw it. My eyes! My eyes! they burn!

At least this one has a matching airbag vs the prior car that sold for stupid money with Matador red interior and black airbag. Obviously something happened as any full matador red interior I have seen had a matador airbag. Everyone seems to be looking for unique color combos here is one for that person but in all honesty the interior color is almost more important to me than exterior and looking at that every day would put me off. I even wasn't fond of my Cashmere in my C2 and am currently swapping it out for black.

in the early 2000ands i had an offer for a 930s convertible in blue. about 10000 miles. g50. fully optioned with leather liner, buttons, hardtop, etc. was 12000 $ that time. was ugly dark blue in and out. bluish fuchs wheels, blue steering, blue roofliner: coyote ugly !!!!
this pts turbo with magenta interior i would buy right away if i were searching for a car.

i know, 99% of you tell me an idiot for let that blue turbo cab. go. but hey, that is how different we are...
