this seems to be a low milage car. right!

some things i do not like / do not match milage:

drivers seat - may be the owner wears sanding paper jeans.
center caps
exhaust / tips
condition of the engine compartment - especially details are not stock.

over here there was a speedo for sale. made in 92, unopened, 13 thousand km.
may be this is a second speedo mounted...

I can't tell you how many of these cars I know have far more miles than claimed. Many people switched out the speedo to detract from the actual miles shown for decades going back to the 901.

I am not saying the car isn't honest. But the aftermarket exhaust, center armrest, incorrect center caps and wear on the bolsters tell me something is up. The orange peel right side by door seems way too much.

Could be a nice car but needs further investigation especially at that price. I suspect a low mile car but not under 10k as shown.

Cars like these take the term “garage queen” to a whole new level. I would never buy a car like this as it can’t be used ever not even a little bit. Wouldn’t even be able to remove the protective wrapping the car was delivered in as it would be viewed as a sin. I know there are collections that collect delivery mileage (or very close) cars still with their original wrapping, but these type of cars are not for me and probably a lot of people. The video below is of a collection in Japan pretty much exclusively of cars with delivery mileage still in their original wrapping.

At the end of the day only one of them is remaining a 964. It’s a shame if a car isn’t being used at all, but I don’t get bent out of shape about it as there are only a handful of examples that remain in this state and think it’s ok if a few remain like this. An overwhelming majority of these cars were used and not treated purely as static pieces of art. At least you could say the car that hasn’t been used is acting as a time capsule showing how these cars would’ve come when they were new. The Singer’s from a 964 enthusiasts POV is a shame as good cars are being altered and disassembled entirely to point of never being 964’s again. Also when they do get delivered to their new owners most will sit in a collection not getting driven much anyway.

This reminds me of a very wealthy friends father who purchased 4 930 turbos In 1979. When Porsche came out saying they will never be making another US spec turbo car he decided to spec out some very rare PTS and other great options. He took delivery of them all at the same time. Three were sealed in a large bag filled with an inert gas. The 4th he drove daily. They stayed that way until 1986 when Porsche started bringing the 930 back to the US. To his dismay he sold the three off with delivery miles at a loss. AFAIK 2 of the three remain today. A third was lost in a fire years ago consuming a large collection of low mile examples.

Not every car was meant to be driven and not many should be garage queens. However this could be a similar case where the owner bought multiple cars and only drove one. Ths rarity will suit a museum maybe the Porsche Museum one day just like Bob Linton's last 930 the most heavily optioned Porsche. IIRC last i saw it was up to around 700 miles which was amazing it had that many. But that car will end up at the Porsche museum one day for all of us to see. If he drove it I don't think so. I am happy to just look at it and one day know that my son and others can enjoy it for what it was.

My buyer bought his 1991 C2 turbo after the death of his wife. Accidentally overfill with oil and let her sit for 22 years.
I found that the oil turned into black sludge and the gasoline very dark. This car would have to be taken apart to insure the same didn't happen.
One would have to pump the gasoline out every 3-4 years, run the car, change the oil every five years, and change the brake fluid every 7 years.
My windshield with 900 miles de-laminated, battery acid, i could go on and on. There's clearly a correct way to store a car and a incorrect way.
But yeah, Buyers that just want a collection are everywhere today.

A few years back a 928 GT was found with some stupidly low miles on it sub 500. It was interesting as the owner actually documented every time the car was started how far it was driven and maintained. All fluids flushed every 2 years min. Different strokes.
