good factory paint should be between 3-7 mil
Are you saying if there is not enough zinc in metal or fibreglass fenders you can shoot micron for thickness?

^^ I think you mean a thousandth of an inch. 1 mil = .001" Most cars came from the factory not exceeding 7 mils but I have seen some as high as 10 mils in some places but very rare and you need to know paintwork and look for smoking guns once you start seeing either high readings or sudden changes from panel to panel. Such as one panel reading 8 the next 3.5 and the next 10. You can't shoot a Micron of paint usually a layer ranges between .75 to 1.5 mils depending on nozzle used air pressure and technique.
Mils to Microns: (Number of Mils) x 25.4 (i.e., 0.75 mil = 19 microns) so 7 mils would equal 177.8 microns

clearly BaT has more eyeballs. But I’m the end it’s buyers that matter.

I feel like the overall market is softening (as I have been hoping for), and that the 964 Turbo's in general will come back into some realm of reality. But of course you get what you pay for these days, and the discerning eye makes the wise choice.

When the market gets flooded with product as it has been lately people start holding out for the better car. I am not sure why we would want the market to soften. These cars are worth every penny and should stay where they are for the prime examples. The drivers and project cars never should have been bid so high but BaT has seen to it that most overpay. I said this back in 2011 when prices started to rise it has all the earmarks of the 1980's grey market and eventually people got wise to which cars to buy and which to walk from.

The 3.6's were the first to skyrocket in price and then all the deadbeat owners (people who ignore their cars, don't invest in maintenance, ect.) were rolling out their iron for the big payday. I saw a lot of questionable cars being offered at crazy prices but that market has died down and the craziness has shifted to the 3.3's. Things look to be cooling off a little.

Funny enough, that car was offered on Facebook 3 months prior as a private sale with an ask of $200k. Eventual BaT Seller made out huge on that one.

Random special, but not super car, vehicles used to be pretty cheap. I bought a GT3 for 997 68k in 2015 off of Craigslist. They are 150?k now.
In 2008 I almost bought a 3.3 turbo for a whopping 39k - they were “slow old Porsches” then that a STI would beat in a drag race. But a smaller group of folks just all enjoyed these experiences.
Like crypto I do believe it will come all crashing apart. Old cars needs lots of maintenance and they all have stories. I bought a FD rx7 a few months ago it took 10k of work to get right, and it was low mile, low owner, just was an older car.
My Integra type R I am 30k into on parts and services (and to be fair some cool period correct upgrades from JPN) - point being you need to love the cars, not speculate and once folks who paid 200k for a 3.3 turbo sell them for 100k in 12 months well I think the world will be hurting, but at least the car market will be back to rationale.
End rant.

^^ I don't see this happening and we are still seeing new record highs for many models daily. There are far more interested buyers than cars available. Pristine 928 S4's and GT's are selling for what GTS's were not long ago and some GTS's are hitting new highs. Narrow body 993's selling for $120k to $200k money only S's were seeing not long ago. 964 cabs have recently traded for 6 figures. Even in this BS economy. $100k 964 turbo might happen but it will be a car that needs $100k in work or has a tweaked tub needing even more work. I wouldn't hold out if you want one. The last time someone said the market was turning it did an about face and shot right up again. They just aren't making anymore and everyone wants a classic in this world of high tech over complicated computer games they call cars.
I see a lot of Japanese cars that were cheap new now needing engine work that costs nearly as much as rebuilding an air-cooled can see, yet people keep spending to fix them even though they won't fetch 911 money. The market isn't cooling off the buyers are just becoming more educated and as Sy Syms used to say an educated consumer is his best customer. It was bound to happen the masses learned that just because the car is a XXXX it doesn't mean they are all worth a premium only the right cars the next you have to factor in deferred maintenance and hidden issues.
