Default Odometer

I have a 91 964, C2, tip. Does the computer keep up with actual miles put on the car or is this only logged on the mechanical odometer in the speedo? My odometer hasn't worked in several months. I want to have it repaired and add the actual miles if possible.

Thanks,
Scott

Only the mechanical odometer keeps track of miles.

I had my 92 C2 out this weekend and noticed my odometer was not working. I am sure it happened in the last few hundred mile as I don't drive it much.
Does anyone have info on how/where to get fixed?

You can fix it yourself and get the new gears from
http://www.odometergears.com/product...1-964+89-93/70
or send your speedometer to Palo Alto Speedometer, or North Hollywood Speedometer.
The plastic gears get brittle from age and break.

if you decide to fix yourself, make sure you follow the directions on "odometergears.com" and not the youtube video. You MUST take the face off so you can clean all the bits of broken gear out. I promise they are in there. Not a hard job at all, just take your time so you dont damage the delicate parts.

Thanks tfitch03!
I saw on a thread on Pelican where I guy did the gear repair only to find out the circuit board inside had failed. What are the chances this could be the issue?

Anything is possible but it's more likely the gears.

I can reinforce the above advice. Face the fear and use the face removal method. The only nervous part is the needle removal. Read the method notes carefully. It's a delicate twist and pull.
