I should stop.
Car is not in my garage yet and I have already bought the user manual, a couple of books and this radio to replace the ugly Pioneer one.

I picked it up!
I am already in love with it.
One quick question... Oil.
5W40 as Porsche suggests for the 964 in their 2012 bulletin?
10W60 as Porsche suggests in their "classic" department?

I am using it in south of Switzerland and north of Italy. No track day, no spirited driving, just cruising.

Ciao, good to know. Same area same weather
Did you have your engine just rebuilt or is it still the "original" one (the latter is my scenario, with no leak, no issue - touching wood)

Yeah, same use!
Original engine but in 2011 the previous owner refreshed it and added a complete gasket set. My car is a ’90 C2 so it came from the factory without cylinder gasket

Uhm... Mine is '91 no gasket as well I think.
Honestly I do not know if something has been done before since I have detailed invoices from 2013 only.
Before that date I only have all proper stamps in the service book (well.. quite a lot, aligned with the mandatory gas tests here in CH).

Not even one drop. Checked of course in the previous owner garage and as well yesterday after a drive of 200km. Noting at all on the floor and I can bet that oil would find it's way to the floor.

At some point I think someone added the gasket in your engine...

Do you still have the engine undertray? It can contain minor oil leaks.

Yes, I have it. Anyhow the car went throught the MFK on 19.09 and they are "sensitive" to oil leaks.
But again, to be on the safe side, I will make a (late) check this WE in another Porsche dealer just to have a third opinion.

That was an easy one. Boring 200km to Zurich, highway, towards office.

I put only 10W60 (from Motorex)
I think, the 5W40 is too fluid for our "old" engines.
But after if you don't have any leakage...

Hi Ale_72,

Pointer to some light reading on OIL CHOICES for our 964's...

https://rennlist.com/forums/964-turb...-this-oil.html

.......
And then there is this thread, but no real reports back on active current usage of the Classic 10w-60...
https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...r-964-a-5.html

I have it in my 1991 964T, but only have a couple hundred miles on it so far.
